Review: 13 Reasons Why Season 3 Episode 11

’13 Reasons Why’ Season 3 Episode 11 gets some of the mysteries out of the way. Firstly, we know what happened on the night of the homecoming game and why the entire school was riled up about it. We also get to know what Tyler has on his mysterious flash drive.

That being said, the entire episode is dedicated to the walls closing in on Bryce’s case with Clay looking guiltier by the second. Titled, “There Are a Few Things I Haven’t Told You”, the episode brings up some discrepancies in the alibis. In fact, most people seem to have a shaky alibi for the night of Bryce’s murder and we are left wondering if everyone is somehow involved in the disgraced jock’s death.

13 Reasons Why Season 3 Episode 11 Recap:

Episode 11 of ’13 Reasons Why’ starts with Clay, his family, and his lawyer trying to manage the situation now that the cops have his cell phone. They repeatedly urge Clay to point the finger at Mrs. Baker if the cops find incriminating messages there. Clay’s lawyer also points out that Clay’s movements on the night of Bryce’s death are nothing short of shady. Meanwhile, it would appear that either Jessica or Alex are lying about their alibis since the former claims to be in bed on the night of the homecoming game, while the latter claims to have been hanging out with Jessica. Monty’s alibi looks shaky as well, while Ani seems to be hiding a red smeared top. Is it blood or paint, as she claims?  Only time will tell.

As the case begins to close in around Clay, he reaches out to Tyler, telling him that he might not be around to help the latter. Tyler, like a good friend, offers to tell the cops about Monty raping him to point the finger at the evil jock, but Clay tells him to only come forward if he is comfortable. Taking Clay’s suggestion, however, Tyler does open up to Jessica and the two share an emotional scene when Jessica praises Tyler’s courage and tells him he is a different person now. We finally see what was on Tyler’s flash drive, which is a sort of manifesto or explanation about why he was planning on executing a shootout at the Spring Fling in Season 2. Once again, Tyler tells Jessica that Bryce had promised to help him with the Monty situation.

It finally brings us to the big homecoming game and we get to know what the ruckus was all about. Tempers were high beforehand with Monty and Bryce going at it in the locker room and the field when Bryce asks Monty to stay away from Tyler. When Jessica and her protestors storm the field, all hell breaks loose as a Hillcrest player molests Jessica. She gets a few shots in before Justin storms the field to attack the player. It results in a brawl between the two teams and various school students get involved. Notably, the takeaway should be that Bryce asks Jessica to meet him on the pier after the game. He is later found dead near the same pier. Suspicion seems to be on Jess, who also tells Ani some secret. Meanwhile, Clay seeks help from Tony to disappear. We are unsure whether these are the actions of a scared but innocent man, or a guilty one, but things are not looking good for Clay.

Episode 11 of ’13 Reasons Why’ is one of the most eventful episodes as it sets up the scene of the night that eventually ends in Bryce’s death. While the mystery seems to be getting darker, it is important to remember that it is always darkest before the dawn and the last two episodes will surely clear everything up.
