‘6 Underground’ has been categorized as a vigilante action thriller which already gives us a lot of hope for the movie. As we go in expecting intense action sequences, tight storylines and perhaps even explosions, there is a high chance that we will not be disappointed since the movie comes from the king of explosions in Hollywood, that is Michael Bay.
In what will be the director’s first movie for a streaming service, ‘6 Underground’ is coming to Netflix, as part of the streamer service’s attempt to acquire more action movies that could potentially do well in the theaters and spawn sequels. Naturally, it is part of Netflix’s business plan to attract more viewers and keep them coming back in the hopes of sequels, or even a franchise.
To this end, Netflix has spared no expenses and the production costs have come to $150 million. This makes it the platform’s second most expensive project, after ‘Bright‘. The expectation is that the high budget allocated for the movie will result in a successful project. The shooting for ‘6 Underground’ has taken place in the United States and Italy. With a talented cast involved, and with Bay’s signature style, which can be considered explosive, there is no doubt that ‘6 Underground’ will be a thoroughly enjoyable affair. 6 Underground Plot: What Is It About?
The plot of ‘6 Underground’ is somewhat like a cross between ‘Fast and Furious‘ and ‘The Italian Job‘. We see a team of individuals who have faked their deaths and come together in order to form an elite vigilante squad that is bent on ridding the world of all criminal elements, so people can live the good life. The reason behind faking their deaths is made clear. It is not as much about escaping your past life, although that is a factor, as it is about having the freedom to do what you want. Thus, we can be certain that this team will have no accountability, except to themselves, making them highly volatile, but also highly effective in fighting crime on a global scale.
The team that comes together has members with unique skill sets. By combining their efforts and pooling their resources, they are able to embark on dangerous missions, maintaining order in the world. You can rest assured that there will be a lot of explosions and intense action to keep you on the edge of the seat. The members of the vigilante squad are bent on erasing their pasts and changing their futures. Even if they might not be remembered, they are bent on assuring that their actions are never forgotten.
Driven individuals are hard to stop, as is, but driven individuals with resources become almost completely unstoppable. However, Bay will surely set the movie up in a way that there will be moments of comedy as these individuals adjust to the life of a vigilante, which is definitely a far cry from their old lives. They must also adjust to being an enemy of the criminal world, where their lives are in danger at all points.
While the basic crux of the movie will definitely be how the team takes down bad guys, looking cool while doing it, there is a chance that the dynamics between the team members is going to drive the plot forward. Therefore, it remains to be seen if their brave and fearless leader can bring the entire team together, making them work as a unit. The kind of missions they have to embark on, have no room for error. Since one wrong move can get you killed and the fate of the world hangs in the balance, the members of the squad in ‘6 Underground’ will be looking to work past their differences to become a force to be reckoned with.
6 Underground Cast: Who Is In It?
Speaking of the team members, in ‘6 Underground’ they make up most of the cast as well. It is led by Ryan Reynolds, who is best known for ‘Deadpool‘. The actor is expected to be the mysterious leader of the team of vigilantes, who seems to be working towards a larger goal, which involves several potentially deadly situations. The characters are not known by their names, but numbers instead, giving them a degree of anonymity and the appearance of a well-honed team. Reynolds’ character name is One. Other cast members include Mélanie Laurent as Two, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as Three, Adria Arjona as Four, Corey Hawkins as Five, and Ben Hardy as Six. Dave Franco is part of the cast as well, but his role remains unknown for now. In all probability, the actor might appear as someone opposed to the team’s operations.
6 Underground Crew: Who Is Behind It?
As we mentioned, the upcoming movie ‘6 Underground’ comes from Michael Bay. ‘6 Underground’ is slated to be released on December 13, 2019. Since it is a Netflix movie, the chances are it will be released worldwide in all regions on the same day. Releasing around the holidays puts this film in an important position because the streaming service will be hoping to draw larger crowds to the explosive offering.
