Adrien Broner is a professional boxer from the United States. Such is prowess in the ring that he has been the world champion in four weight classes. From 2012 to 2012 he held the WBO junior lightweight, from 2012 to 2013 the WBC lightweight, in 2013 the WBA welterweight and from 2015 to 2016 the WBA light welterweight. He was born Adrien Jerome Broner on July 28, 1989, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He started boxing from the age of six and acknowledges that it was boxing that kept him off from a life on the streets.
His professional career began on the fateful day of May 31, 2008. It finally ended with three consecutive first-round knockouts. He played against Ramon Flores, David Warren Huffman, and Allante Davis in these knockouts. He started from super lightweight in 2008 and moved to lightweight in 2012. He later moved to welterweight and then light welterweight.
Broner started his career with a winning streak which continued through his career. In June 2010 he won the vacant WBC Youth Intercontinental super featherweight title when he beat Carlos Claudio. He later defeated John Revish in January 2011 and won the vacant WBC-USNBC lightweight title. In the same year, he followed it up with a win over Daniel Ponce De Leon and took the vacant WBO Inter-Continental super featherweight title. He also won against Vicente Martin Rodriguez in 20122 and won the WBO Super Featherweight World title. He was stripped of his title since his weight was over the limit for the Super Featherweight class. He defeated Antonio DeMarco and won the WBC Lightweight title in November 2012. He continued to win more titles in the following years like the WBA International Super Lightweight in 2014 and again in 2015 and 2016. His boxing record is 33-2-0 as of May 2017.
Broner is no stranger to controversies in his life. He had allegedly choked a waitress at a nightclub called Drai and was subsequently charged with misdemeanor battery on October 17, 2016. Around the same time, he had posted on social media alarming posts and caption through Instagram. He was arrested on April 20, 2017, due to failure to appear in court for a previous arrest in 2014. He was arrested on February 13, 2018, and later released on bail on a misdemeanor sexual battery charge. He was booked into Fulton County Jail in Atlanta.
Broner is working on a documentary titled “The Problem” and the subject of the documentary is himself. Broner has made multiple appearances on television. He has appeared in “HBO Boxing After Dark” series in 2011 and 2012. He was also part of ‘Friday Night Fights” on ESPN as an audience member in 2013.
