American Horror Story Season 9 Cast: Who is in it?

Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters were seen returning for season 8, and so was Kathy Bates – who sat out for American Horror Story: Cult. Paulson and Peters had also been confirmed to direct episodes in season 8. Season 8 also saw the return of Billy Eichner, Cheyenne Jackson, Adina Porter, and Leslie Grossman. Joan Collins was also signed up for the eighth season to play Peters’ grandma.

Paulson has appeared on every season of the show so far, and there is no reason why we shouldn’t see her in season 9 as well. Prior to the release of season 8, she told Adweek of her future on the show, “I have found a home, in the sense that I work for a person who sees me completely, knows my strengths and weaknesses, knows how to push me and keeps throwing me the ball.”

Evan Peters should be back as well and so should many other cast regulars. Season 8 had staged a crossover between season one and season three, and unless something similar is destined to happen in season 9, we will be bidding farewell to most of season 8’s cast.

American Horror Story Season 9 Plot: What is it about?

In June, creator Ryan Murphy had announced that season 8 of American Horror Story would be the long-awaited crossover between season one’s Murder House and season three’s Coven. Murphy had revealed about season 8 that it wouldn’t be set in the past or the present. “All I’ll say about it is I want to go to the future – still topical, but the future, which I’ve never done.” He added that that did not mean the show would be set in space, as EW reports. At an Emmys panel, Murphy told fans the series would be set “18 months from today” (April 6). He also suggested they should look up what might be happening around that time. As for tone, he also compared it to two previous runs of the show, saying: “It’s not necessarily as real and grounded as the past season. We’re sort of getting back to Asylum and Coven. It’s that tone. That’s the tone of it.”

In July last year, Murphy posted a screenshot of an Instagram note listing the nine circles of hell. Next to seven of the circles were corresponding seasons of AHS. The only two left, without seasons attached to them, were lust and violence. The screenshot could have been crucial in guessing the theme of season 9, however, rumours of a 10th season have started to circulate. This could completely nullify the theory unless we assume season 10 would be its last and final and would take place in hell. AHS reveals little of its plot before the actual release. It wasn’t until June that season 8 was given the official name: American Horror Story: Apocalypse. It’s a long time to go before we find out what season 9 will deal with. We will update this section when we know.

American Horror Story Season 9 Release Date: When will it premiere?

In January 2017, it was announced that the show had been renewed for two more seasons, taking the show through a ninth season. AHS was moved to a September slot in its sixth season. A similar timeline was followed in season 7 and season 8. The air date of season 8 was announced to be September 27, 2018, in the U.K. We expect season 9 to follow suit and a release in late September 2019 looks probable.
