‘American Housewife’ is an American sitcom television series that airs on ABC. Created by Sarah Dunn, the show chronicles the life of a wife and mother who tries to raise her average family in a town of wealthy and seemingly perfect people.

A relatively recent show, Season 1 of ‘American Housewife’ premiered on October 11, 2016, and despite receiving poor reviews from television critics, the show was renewed again by ABC on May 11, 2017. Subsequently, Season 2 made its way to viewers’ screens on September 27, 2017, and a month later, ABC renewed the show for its third season. Now in the middle of its fourth season, here’s everything we know about the show.

American Housewife Season 4 Episode 11 Release Date

‘American Housewife’ Season 4 premiered on September 27, 2019. After airing for 10 episodes, the show went on a mid-season break — as it always does — on December 12, 2019. The good news is that fans won’t have to wait for long for the show to come back on the tv screens. ‘American Housewife’ Season 4 episode 11 will release on January 24, 2020. You can watch it on ABC.

As far as the future of the show goes, even though the the show hasn’t been received well by the critics, the ratings have been more than decent. Season 3 averaged a rating of 0.98 among the 18-49 years demographic category, and had an average viewership of 4.27 million. While these figures are definitely not outstanding, they are actually better than many shows on ABC’s roster.

American Housewife Cast: Who is in it?

The show primarily revolves around the Otto family, and Katy Mixon plays the main protagonist, wife and mother Katie Otto. As far the rest of the family is concerned, Diedrich Bader plays Katie’s husband Greg, while Meg Donnelly plays Taylor, the teenage daughter of Katie and Greg. The other two Otto children, Oliver and Anna-Kat, are played by Daniel DiMaggio and Julia Butters.

American Housewife Plot: What is it about?

‘American Housewife’, as the name suggests, is centered around Katie Otto, a mother of three children and a wife surrounded by wealthy and arrogant housewives living with their privileged children in Westport, Connecticut. It focuses on her life as she tries to stand out from the pretentious crowd in her neighborhood and lead a balanced life while doing so. Her close friends Doris and Angela help her keep her calm and she frequently seeks their advice. The show continues to explore problems faced by Katie as she tries to raise her imperfect family in a town of seemingly perfect families. As her kids grow up, things get more difficult for her to manage and she struggles to keep her calm.

As far as the other members of the Otto family is concerned, Greg is portrayed as a level-headed husband who teaches at university. Taylor, meanwhile, is an athletic and headstrong teenager who wants to fit in with the rest of her wealthy, seemingly perfect peers. The middle child of the family, Oliver, is portrayed as an ambitious and intelligent kid who has a snarky streak. Finally, the youngest, Anna-Kat is a really sweet child with mild levels of obsession, and she is by far Katie’s favorite.

Being a sitcom, the show does not have any particularly outstanding plot, and instead chronicles everyday situations with the Otto family has to deal with, with a particular focus on the behavior of the townsfolk and how it affects the members of the Otto family.

In terms of reception, ‘American Housewife’ is far from critical acclaim – Season 1 of the show has a poor score of 57% on Rotten Tomatoes, with the critics’ consensus reading, “American Housewife is boosted by a strong and enjoyable lead performance by Katy Mixon, yet her performance alone strains to sustain an excessively quirky show that relies too heavily on stereotypes.” Seasons 2 and 3 are not rated on the review aggregator website. However, the show seems to be more popular among viewers, perhaps owing to its relatability, and it enjoys a decent rating of 7.4/10 on IMDb.
