‘America’s Got Talent’ aka AGT is a talent competition, which forms a part of Simon Cowell’s ‘Got Talent’ franchise. The show originally premiered on NBC on June 21, 2006. Showcasing some of the most talented stars from all over the US, it highlights the best performances from music, dancing, comedy, magic, stunts, and variety, among other genres. One of the consistent rating generators for NBC, ‘America’s Got Talent’ averages around 10 million viewers per season. As a result, it has become an annual summer staple for the channel, spawning 15 seasons to date. And here is everything you need to know about its 16th outing.
America’s Got Talent Season 16 Release Date:
‘America’s Got Talent’ season 15 premiered on May 26, 2020, on NBC. It ended with its 24th episode on September 23, 2020. Although no official announcement has been made yet, regarding a new edition, casting calls are already underway for the 2020-2021 season. The format for submitting video auditions has changed due to the ongoing pandemic. The network has resorted to an all-NEW Virtual Open Calls.
The submissions need to stick to the state-wise government regulations and restrictions. For group performances, participants can send an older video or film the act by collaborating online. So yes, a 16th season is around the corner! Since the show returns every year during the summer months, we expect the new outing to follow a similar schedule. So far, we have seen no disruptions in NBC’s plans to launch the next edition. If things move in a similar manner in the upcoming months as well, we can expect ‘America’s Got Talent’ season 16 to premiere in May 2021.
America’s Got Talent Season 16 Cast: Host And Judges
The 15th season of ‘America’s Got Talent’ is hosted by Terry Crews, who is expected to return for the 16th outing as well. Seated on the judges’ panel are Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Sofía Vergara, and Simon Cowell. Before the first quarter-final’s live broadcast, Cowell suffered an accident and hence, was unable to participate in the live episodes. As a result, the remaining live episodes were judged by the other three judges. We expect Cowell (following his recovery), accompanied by Klum, Vergara, and Mandel to return for season 16.
In the 15th season, among all the participants who auditioned, 44 progressed to the live quarter-finals — 11 contestants in each one. 22 quarter-finalists advanced to the semis. The top 10 progressed to the live finals — Brandon Leake, Roberta Battaglia, Cristina Rae, Broken Roots, Alan Silva, Archie Williams, Kenadi Dodds, Bello Sisters, BAD Salsa, and Daneliya Tuleshova. The winner received a grand cash prize and the chance to headline a show in Las Vegas. Season 16 will introduce us to a fresh batch of contestants, extremely talented in the genre of their choice.
