Andrew Lincoln got his first big break when he was cast as Edgar ‘Egg’ Cook in the popular drama series ‘This Life’ in 1996. Guest roles in various TV shows and movies followed, including Felix in 1999’s ‘Human Traffic’, the narrator of the TV series ‘Mersey Blues’, which aired in 1999, Sam in 2000’s ‘Offending Angels’, and Julian Latimer in TV movie ‘State of Mind’, which aired in 2003. Lincoln played the character of teacher Simon Casey in the Channel 4 series ‘Teachers’ which started in 2001 and ended in 2003. He played Mark in the hit romantic comedy film ‘Love Actually’ which released in 2003. In 2004, he starred as a TV Producer in ‘Enduring Love’, Barry Flint in the TV movie ‘Whose Baby?’, and as DI Will Tomlinson in ‘Lie with Me’.
Lincoln starred as Christopher Lovell in ‘These Foolish Things’, which released in 2005. He then appeared as Paul in 2006’s ‘Comme t’y es belle’ and as Jamie in ‘Scenes of a Sexual Nature’, which too released in 2006. He also played Robert Bridge in the TV series ‘Afterlife’, which aired from 2005 to 2006. Lincoln played DC Rae in the TV movie ‘The Things I Haven’t Told You’, which aired in 2008 and starred as Joe in 2008’s ‘Play or Be Played’, which too was a TV movie. In 2010, Lincoln played the role of Jonathan in ‘Heartbreaker’ and the character of Mr. Clarke in ‘Made in Dagenham’.
In 2010, he was cast as Rick Grimes in the AMC post-apocalyptic horror television series based on the comic book of the same name titled ‘The Walking Dead’. He became an international star with this role. The series is one of the most popular shows on television right now. Lincoln has received a lot of praise for his performance as Rick Grimes in the series. It sets new viewing records with the premiere of each new season. In 2018, Lincoln left the show in its ninth season but his character was not killed off and a possibility for his return was left in the series. His fans increased exponentially with each passing season of the show and he now has a massive fan following. Lincoln’s departure from the show also lowered the ratings of the same.
At this point, the question that might be circling your mind is when is the next Andrew Lincoln movie coming? Well, the good news is that we have a clear answer to that question. Here’s the list of upcoming Andrew Lincoln films scheduled to release in the near future. We can only hope that the new Andrew Lincoln project would be as good as some of his recent ones.
2. Penguin Bloom (TBA)
‘Penguin Bloom’ is an upcoming drama movie that is being helmed by Glendyn Ivin and is based on the novel of the same name, penned by Bradley Trevor Greive. The cast of the film looks to be stellar pairing Andrew Lincoln and Naomi Watts. In all likelihood, they will play the role of the couple Sam and Cameron Bloom.
The plot follows a photographer and his family, who take in an injured magpie. Ultimately, this choice leads to a profound change in their lives. As they begin to care for the magpie chick, it helps them to find hope and solace, while they struggle with the photographer’s paralysis. Naturally, we can expect an allegorical link to be drawn between the magpie and the photographer, with love being the healing factor in both cases.
Usually, when people are under a lot of stress, caring for someone or something, and nursing it back to health can give them a sense of power and control, the feeling of being in charge of the situation. The emasculation the family has to confront in being unable to help the photographer recover from the paralysis is somewhat undone by being able to care for the magpie chick. As is evident, ‘Penguin Bloom’ is an intense movie and the performances need to be up to the mark to reflect it. Luckily with the talented cast on board, this should not be a problem.
Being in post-production stages, no release date has been announced yet, but we expect the movie to release sometime in 2020.
