5. Eternals (2020)

Eternals‘ is the upcoming Marvel project which marks the MCU’s foray into a new phase after the events of ‘Avengers: Endgame‘. For those unaware, the Eternals are a race of immortal beings created by the Celestials to protect the earth and the universe in fact, from the Deviants, who are the malevolent offshoots of the same race. The characters that will appear in ‘Eternals’ have been created by Jack Kirby and although the Eternals is an extremely old comic series within the Marvel universe, it has remained more or less obscure in mainstream media till now. With the movie fast approaching, you might be wondering about the role that Angelina Jolie plays. She appears as Thena, one of the oldest superheroes in the Marvel universe and a formidable member of the Eternals.

Thena appeared in the fifth issue of the ‘Eternals’ and has become an indispensable member of the team since then. She possesses powers of flight, manipulating matter, teleportation, telepathy and shooting energy beams from her eyes and hands. She also has superhuman speed, strength, and agility. However, she does not just rely on her powers during battles, instead opting to fight with weapons as well. She has a special crossbow but the iconic weapon we have come to associate with the character is her spear. It remains to be seen whether Jolie’s character carries the same weapons into fights. The upcoming movie is slated to be released on November 6, 2020, and will mark Angelina Jolie’s inclusion into the MCU. Hopefully, we will see more of her in upcoming movies and the part is sure to help her career skyrocket even more.

4. Those Who Wish Me Dead (TBA)

‘Those Who Wish Me Dead’ is an upcoming Western thriller film helmed by Taylor Sheridan, which is based on the novel of the same name by Michael Koryta. The premise is a female-driven neo-western that is set against a wildfire in the Montana wilderness. The story starts when a teenager becomes a witness to a murder and finds himself being tracked by two assassins. As the deadly game of cat and mouse escalates, the forest wildfire threatens to consume all of the people involved. Angelina Jolie appears in the role of Hannah Farber while the cast includes talents like Jon Bernthal.

The movie is likely to remain honest to the plot of the book, where we see Jace Wilson, the 14-year-old, being issued a new identity and placed in a wilderness skills program for troubled teens. The cops plan to put the witness off the grid while they hunt the killers. However, the tables are turned when the methodical Blackwell Brothers begin to slaughter everyone in their way, in order to reach Jace. Ethan and Allison Serbin, the two who run the wilderness program, try to protect him and seek help from Farber, who occupies a lonely fire lookout tower. Those who wish Jace dead keep closing in and the boy faces endless stretches of Montana wilderness, that he must brave in order to survive the terrifying nightmare. The film promises to be gripping.
