‘Goblin Slayer’  is an entertaining anime for people who love fantasy and do not mind blood and violence. The plot follows a young priestess who is a noob adventurer and puts together a group to go on her first adventure. But soon her group is attacked by a group of goblins who hurt them violently. Fortunately, they are saved by a man known as the Goblin Slayer who has taken a vow to slay all goblins without any thought. 13. Hai to Gensou no Grimgar (2016)

‘Hai to Gensou no Grimgar’ is an anime set in a world where young people find themselves in. They don’t know how they got there and have no memory of who they are except their names. Everyone who arrives in this world needs to find a job to survive since they will die of starvation and exposure otherwise. But the only job available is in the army and the kids need to fight hard each day in a slow war against goblins and other creatures. Those who can’t get a job are left behind to survive on their own. The anime revolves around a ragtag bunch of people who were left behind as they try to unite and fight for survival. Though this place looks like something out of a video game once you die in this world you stay dead.

12. Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka (2015)

In the world of ‘Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka’ Gods and Humans live together and often have a hard time getting along. Bell Cranel, the protagonist of the anime, lives in the city of Orario. he dreams of becoming the greatest adventurer ever. A chance encounter with a lonely goddess by the name of Hestia gives way for his dream to become reality as the goddess decides to support him in his adventure. With her help, Bell ventures out to explore the underground catacombs of his city which they dub ‘dungeon’. It is a dangerous place where monstrous creatures are present and death is waiting at every turn. The adventures are fun and entertaining and will test our protagonist in every way.

11. Grancrest Senki (2018)

‘Grancrest Senki’ is a fantasy anime about war, it’s after effect, and dark energies. The continent of Atlatan has two powerful factions, the Fantasia Union, and The Factory Alliance. They try to attain peace between them by a marriage ceremony between members belonging to different factions viz. Sir Alexis Douse and Lady Marrine Kreische. But their hopes shatter when Chaos, the dark energy in the anime, start converging at the location and demon lord of diabolos appears from within it. He kills all the archdukes instantly throwing any chance of peace out the window. Siluca Meletes is a mage who after failing to prevent the disaster decides to train under a master magician. On her way, she is attacked by soldiers from the federation but is saved by a man named Theo Cornaro who has a magical crest symbol on him which allows him to repel Chaos. Siluca enters into a magical contract with him and they join hands to restore peace in this world.

10. Akame ga Kill (2014)

‘Akame ga Kill’ is an action, fantasy anime which showcases lots of blood and gore. In this anime, the prime minister of the kingdom is corrupt and greedy. He manipulates the child king who still lacks valuable experience. The entire kingdom is suffering due to the presence of a weak leader and is moving towards poverty and hardship. Night Raid is a covert assassination group which supports the rebellions in overthrowing the prime minister by killing anyone who stands in their way. Their newest member is Tatsumi and it is his adventures as an assassin that we follow. Over the course of the anime, we see him mature and understand what it means to kill for a cause. It is quite similar to ‘Goblin Slayer’ in its feel.

9. Owari no Seraph  (2015)

If you are searching for a post-apocalyptic anime like ‘Goblin Slayer’ then you might want to check out ‘Owari no Seraph’. The show is quite violent and contains profanity. The plot starts when we get to know that there’s a virus that has been starting to spread. The virus has the ability to affect and kill anyone above the age of 13. Naturally, the fate of humanity is in peril. To add to this vampires emerge to protect the society in exchange for blood. Mikaela and Yuuichirou and other children from an orphanage fall prey to the vampires. Yuuichirou formulates a plan to escape the clutches of the vampires but it fails and only Yuuichirou survives. He is recruited by the moon demon company who trains him to kill vampires and the former vows to exterminate those blood-sucking monsters.

8. Bastard (1992)

If you are searching for something to quickly pass time then go for ‘Bastard’. It is an original video animation which has 6 episodes with each episode being 26 minutes in length. The show has blood and gore and some mild nudity to contribute to the ecchi part of the anime. This anime falls in the category of being so bad that it is entertaining. Here’s the plot in nutshell. In the world of ‘Bastard’, people have magical powers. After a God goes into a rampage and destroys the kingdoms,five  magicians decide to conquer the kingdoms and build a utopia. But their leader is reckless and clerics imprison him. Now, the leaderless magicians go rogue and change their goals to world domination. The clerics then free the former leader to save the world and he now must find his companions and defeat them one by one. Watch it as sort of a parody and you will enjoy it.

7. Claymore (2007)

‘Claymore’ is very similar to ‘Goblin Slayer’ when it comes to the general premise and the main, titular character. Here too there’s a character who kills and eliminates a species of monsters seemingly without any grievance. In the world of ‘Claymore’, Youma’s are shapeshifting monsters who enjoy feeding on human flesh. They are a great threat to humans since their abilities make them hard to detect. Raki is a kid who lives in a village. Unfortunately, a Youma shows up in his villain and attacks his family. Claymore is a half-human, half-Youma hybrids who are engineered for the purpose of exterminating the monsters. A claymore by the name of Clare shows up in Raki’s village too and saves him from the monster. With nowhere to go, he pairs up with Claire. This starts his adventure along with Claire as the duo visits different places searching for and killing Youma.

6. Berserk (1997)

‘Berserk’ is quite similar to ‘Goblin Slayer’ because it shows you blood and gore from the first episode itself. It gives you enough implications about what the shows going to be about and what we are going to see. The anime is really entertaining and will suck you right into the storyline and the lives of the characters if you like this kind of anime. Guts is a mercenary and more often than not he is in a battlefield supporting the group which hires him. But after losing against Griffith the leader of a mercenary group known as the Band of Hawks Guts joins them. His skills grow and he becomes a valuable asset to the team and rises up the ranks. But everything is not going to be okay when you live a life thriving on violence and hunger for power. Guts will soon realize that the world is not binary and has got more shades than black and white.

5. Attack on Titan (2013)

‘Attack on Titans’ is a great piece of action anime. It is really fun and interesting and is definitely worth the time investment. The first half of the third season aired in the previous year and the second half will be airing this air possibly in the month of April. If you are a fan of the show stay tuned. In this anime humans are close to extinction due to humungous humanoid monsters, Titans, who destroy everything human on their path and love to consume them too. After seeing a titan kill his mother, Eren Yeager takes a vow to exterminate all the Titans. He joins the army and starts training to be able to use the 3D gear which gives the user a greater range of freedom while attacking a Titan. The show is really similar to ‘Goblin Slayer’ in terms of the concept and the protagonist who just wants to exterminate every monster because of past trauma.

‘Overlord’ is one of the best isekai anime out there. If you are browsing this list in search of an entertaining fantasy, adventure anime which takes place in another world then go for ‘Overlord’. You will really enjoy this series. The first season consists of 13 episodes with each episode being 25 minutes in length. The anime is also one of the best in the MMORPG genre. In this anime, Yggdrasil is a popular virtual reality game. But after providing years of service and entertainment it’s time has come and the servers are going to be shut down. A veteran player of the game Momonga decides to stay in the game for as long as the servers are on. But even after midnight when he is fully conscious he begins to explore the game and finds that the NPCs have developed their own personalities. Momonga being one of the most powerful beings in this world decides to rule this world and search for the reason behind this strange phenomenon.

3. Devilman Crybaby (2018)

If you love violence, blood, and gore then there’s probably something wrong with you. Also, you should check out ‘Devilman Crybaby’ to fulfill your thirst. Whom am I kidding? You obviously did. Both ‘Goblin Slayer’ and ‘Devilman crybaby’ are quite similar when it comes to their approach to blood and gore also their protagonist is quite similar. Both go on mad killing spree and decimates their opponents and would do anything to protect people close to them. ‘Devilman Crybaby’ tells the story of Akira Fudou who always helps people in need. So, when his friend asks him to accompany him to a party to catch devils he agrees But the party turns violent and devils start possessing humans and murdering people. To save his friend Akira allows demon Amon to possess him but controls the latter’s powers to save his friend. Now, Akira is a Devilman and vows to protect humans from demons or devils.

2. High School of the Dead (2010)

Despite what others say, I enjoyed ‘Highschool of The Dead’. It’s not that I like ecchi anime a lot but this anime was really entertaining. Of course, decent boob physics and panty flashes are quite great and entertaining to watch but they don’t make the bulk of the series. We get to see the main characters popping heads and guts of lost of zombies as they try their best to survive in this zombie apocalypse. The setting and premise are quite similar to ‘Goblin Slayer’. Our main characters try their best to survive in this world which suddenly becomes zombie-infested and it involves lots of killing even if it means that they have to hack their own friends who have become a zombie.

1. Drifters (2016)

‘Drifters’ is an isekai genre anime. Our protagonist gets transported to a world filled with fantastical creatures. Shimazu Toyohisa is the protagonist of this anime. After wounding an enemy in the battle he returns being wounded himself. But he ends up transported to a long corridor with lots of doors. A man wearing spectacles sends him towards the nearest door and he wakes up to find himself in another world. He soon learns that he is a drifter and there are other warriors like him. They have all been brought to this world to fight ‘Ends’ who wage war against humans and use powerful beasts to do so. He must fight alongside other drifters and humans to survive and win this war.
