Apache: The Life of Carlos Tevez Plot: What is it about?

Carlos Tevez is a name that elicits strong emotions and reactions, especially when it comes to Argentinian soccer fans. In fact, for all soccer lovers, he is a well-recognized icon. ‘Apache: The Life Of Carlos Tevez’, inspired by the real story of Tevez, is centered around his life and follows his journey from the troubling neighborhood of Fuerte Apache to his rise to international stardom.

The title of the show is derived from Tevez’s early days when he was known by the nickname of El Apache while residing in Fuerte Apache, Ciudadela –located in the Buenos Aires Province of Argentina. He discovered his passion for soccer at quite a young age and started his professional career by playing for the Boca Juniors, from La Boca, Buenos Aires. Four years later, he began playing with multiple international teams, such as Corinthians in Brazil, West Ham United and Manchester United in England, Juventus in Italy, and China’s Shanghai Shenhua. Currently, he plays for the Juniors, which he joined post a one-year stint with Shanghai Shenhua. A winner of 23 trophies within a mere span of 17 years, Tevez also received a gold medal at the Athens Olympics, by playing for the Argentina National Male Soccer Team.

We do know about Tevez’s successful soccer career, but little has been revealed about his childhood days, which were primarily spent, trying to survive. As per his statement, “My whole childhood was hard. I lived in a place where drugs and murder were part of everyday life. Experiencing difficult things, even as a very young kid, means you grow up quickly. I think that enables everyone to choose their own path and not just accept the one others have taken before you, and I went my own way.” He also added that although his life was hard, he was happy — especially when he handled a ball in the streets.

‘Apache: The Life of Carlos Tevez’ attempts to shed light on Tevez’s past and his present by first introducing us to a young man, attempting to tackle difficult situations while pursuing his passion for soccer. It then explores his journey further, highlighting all the major incidents that shaped the man and helped him become who he is now.

Apache: The Life of Carlos Tevez Season 2 Release Date: Will it happen?

‘Apache: The Life of Carlos Tevez’ season 1 premiered on Netflix on August 16, 2019. Its entire run for the first season comprised of eight episodes, with each episode spanning a run-time of 60 minutes. Sports biopics and football documentaries are quickly rising in popularity and are getting produced a lot more these days. Shows like ‘Sunderland Til I Die‘ and ‘All Or Nothing‘ are good examples of how sports based series are well-received nowadays.

However, Apache is a tad different. It is not exactly a docu-series, but a drama (starring actors and inspired by real facts). And this approach, arguably, makes the show even more interesting. Now, as far as the next season goes, it is yet to be seen it will depend on whether the makers want to cover Tevez’s life in further detail. Since he is a highly accomplished sportsperson and only in his mid-thirties, there is scope to narrate many more incidents from his life that can serve as a new season. But for now, no announcement has been made by Netflix. We shall revisit this section as we learn more about a potential ‘Apache: The Life of Carlos Tevez’ season 2 release date.
