‘Arthdal Chronicles’ is one of the most grand tv dramas to have come out of South Korea. It is a show that has all the ingredients that make it is hugely watchable: from its epic fantastical tale to its mysticism and romance. Directed by Kim Won-Seok and written by Kim Young-Hyun, the series is an action-packed, fictional narration about the genesis of Korea’s Gojoseon Kingdom. ‘Arthdal Chronicles’ Season 1 premiered on tVN and Netflix on June 1, 2019. ‘Arthdal Chronicles’ Season 3 ended on September 22, 2019. Now, after three successful seasons, the question is, will there be a ‘Arthdal Chronicles’ Season 4? Here’s everything we know about it.

Arthdal Chronicles Cast

The stellar cast of the show including Song Joong-ki, Jang Dong-gun, Kim Ji-won, and Kim Ok-Vin is expected to return for season 4.

For those who don’t know, Song Joong-ki is best known for his lead role in the pan-Asia hit drama ‘Descendants of the Sun’. Jang Dong-gun is well known for ‘Friend’ and ‘Taegukgi: The Brotherhood of War’. Kim Ji-won has appeared in ‘The Heirs’, ‘Descendants of the Sun’, and ‘Fight for My Way’. Kim Ok-Vin is well-known for ‘Thirst’.

What Will Arthdal Chronicles Season 4 be About?

As you might already know that ‘Arthdal Chronicles’ is a period drama series set against the backdrop of ancient Korea. Season 3 of the show starts with Tanya becoming overwhelmed with reception that Arthdal gives her. She demands Taehella and Tagon meet their end of bargain. Mihol, meanwhile, informs Tagon about what it takes to be a king. Surviving in Arthdal means you have to pick sides widely. Tanya knows this and therefore, silences all who know his secret. In the end, Saya grows increasingly leery of those around him and Tagaon gets what he always wanted.

Season 4 is most likely to continue focussing on the fascinating power struggle in Arthdal. How far will Tanya go? Will someone find out Tagon’s secret ? How will Taehella and Mihol react? We will all find out in season 4.

If the show reminds you of ‘Game of Thrones‘ you are not alone. We expect season 4 to be as twisted as the previous seasons. Each episode more wild than the other. Having said that, make no mistake. ‘Arthdal Chronicles’ is also a great take on elements of modern-day life, ranging from politics to religions, economy. It gives insights into how did humans evolve to form a nation. How did they abandon a primitive lifestyle and create a civilized country? Revolving around four heroes who struggle with power, ambition, love, and survival, this is a drama which we can somehow relate to our contemporary lives as well.

Arthdal Chronicles Season 4 Release Date: Has the Show Been Renewed or Cancelled?

‘Arthdal Chronicles’ season 1, titled, ‘The Children of Prophecy’, premiered on Netflix and tVN on June 1, 2019. The first part comprised of six episodes. Soon after, tVN renewed the show for another season. Considering the uniqueness of the show, it was not a surprising decision at all. Part 2 of the show, titled ‘The Sky Turning Inside Out, Rising Land’, or in simple terms, ‘Arthdal Chronicles’ Season 2, released on June 22, 2019 and ended its run on July 7, 2019. Fans didn’t have to wait much for the next season, because ‘Arthdal Chronicles’ season 3 premiered two months later on September 7, 2019 and ended on September 23, 2019.

Now, tVN has not made any official announcements yet, but what we do know is that story of Arthdal is far from over. More importantly, the show has been tremendous success, both in Korea and in the west. So, there’s no reason why tVN will not renew the show, especially since Netflix’s platform gives the show much wider coverage and viewership. Our best guess is that, ‘Arthdal Chronicles’ season 4 should release sometime in June 2020. Can’t wait that long? Well, we can’t either.
