Barbara Walters was born on September 25, 1929, at Boston, Massachusetts, U.S. She is an American Journalist, and TV personality and author. Walters is known for having organized variety of TV programs, such as “Today, The View, 20/20”, and the “ABC Evening News”. Since retirement as a full-time host and factor, she has continued to sometimes report for ABC News. In 1974, during McGee’s death, Walters became co-host of the program, the first lady to hold such a title on an American news system.

She went on to become the first women co-anchor of network evening news, ongoing as a pioneer for women in transmitting in 1976, as she was working with Harry Reasoner on the ABC News leading program, the ABC Evening News and making an unmatched US$1 million per year. On March 3, 1999, her interview of Monica Lewinsky was seen by 74 million audiences, the biggest rating ever for a news program.

Walters retired from being a co-host on May 15, 2014. Although retired, Walters has returned as a guest co-host throughout 2014 and 2015. Post leaving her role as 20/20 co-host in 2004, Walters has been in semi-retirement as a broadcast reporter but was a part-time factor of unique development and interviews for ABC News. On March 7, 2010, Barbara Walters declared she would no longer time keep Oscar discussions and interviews, but will still be operating with ABC and on The View. In a Nov 2010 show of The View, while meeting with Larry King on his retirement from CNN, Walters alluded to her upcoming retirement revealing, “I know when my time’s arriving.”

Walters continued to work for her 10 Most Fascinating People sequence in 2014 and 2015. She declared on the May 10, 2010, episode of The View that she would be going through open heart surgery to replace a faulty aortic valve. Walters received a celebrity on the Hollywood Walk of Fame On July 15, 2007. She has won Daytime and Primetime Emmy Awards, Women in Film Lucy Award, and a GLAAD Excellence in Media award.
