Beelzebub Season 2: Premiere Date, Characters, Plot

As I’ve mentioned in a few of my other anime reviews and previews, the term “funny” can be really subjective. What’s considered to be funny in one part of the world may just be downright ridiculous for people in some different parts of the world. This dissonance can be seen in the case of most comedy anime and only a few really good ones like ‘Gintama‘ are exceptions to this. ‘Beelzebub’ is certainly one of those genuinely funny shows that can give you some serious “laugh out loud” moments. From the plot summary itself, you can tell that the anime does not take itself too seriously and that itself is the beauty of it. All the ludicrous situations that it portrays just become more hilarious when the characters start referring to the viewers directly and thus, make the situations even more relatable.

With a total of 60 episodes, ‘Beelzebub’ is able to deliver enough punchlines to prove that it is no less than any other shows out there, There are times when this long-running show feels a bit draggy but it somehow finds its way back through all the “heart” that is there in its plot. Overall, it is a very well written anime that does not lose track of what it’s trying to portray till the end. The characters are not as developed as they should be for a long-running anime like this one. It’s crazy how they barely change over time but even then, the humor side of it is good enough to make up for all of its flaws.

In the end, if you want to watch an anime and completely laugh your a** off, then you should go for this one. But if you’re looking for a show that provides deeper themes and dense characters, then you might want to look for a different show.

Beelzebub Season 2 Release Date: When will it premiere?

‘Beelzebub’ Season 1 premiered on January 9, 2011 and went on till March 25, 2012 and during this time, it released a total of 60 episodes. Apart from the main season, the anime also has 16 “Special” episodes which released on June 29, 2011 and came to an end on September 26, 2012. ‘Beelzebub’ is probably one of the most popular anime of this decade and since its release, many fans have either been requesting someone to make a season 2 or they have just been asking when it’ll come out. But unfortunately, despite all of its popularity, a season 2 seems very less likely.

The first reason why it may not have a whole new season is that it had an “original” ending. Which means that though the first season was loyal to its source material all the way up to its 59th episode, the last episode has a completely different ending. This was done because the last episode of the anime was released much before the last few chapters of the arc were published by the manga. And though they could still continue and be one of those “anime exclusive manga adaptations”, that approach never really works too well; take ‘Tokyo Ghoul‘ as a bad example of this.

Another reason why the show cannot be renewed is that the manga was ended soon after the anime concluded. This implies that both the creators and the author were not interested in continuing the manga or the anime. Now I know that it’s really disappointing to hear this, but you can still re-watch the anime, read the manga may be or you can refer to our list of anime similar to ‘Beelzebub’ and find something new that can replace your deprivation. Till then, we can only wish for ‘Beelzebub’ Season 2 release date, which in all likelihood we will never get to hear about.

Beelzebub Plot:

Ishiyama High is a school for delinquents and among all of these young men, the strongest one is Oga Tatsumi. Violence and lawlessness pretty much run in the blood of all the kids at the high school. But even then, no one dares to cross Oga’s path and the few who somehow do, don’t last too long when he viciously fights them.

One fine day, Oga sits by the riverbed when he suddenly spots a man floating in the river. He pulls the man to the shore and that’s when he splits in half and reveals a baby inside him. The baby crawls up Oga’s back and instantly gets attached to him. Little does he know that the baby is actually the son of the Demon Lord.

Initially, Oga tries to pass on the baby to someone else. A theory suggests that if he is able to find someone who is more evil and stronger than him, then the baby will himself get attached to that person. But in an attempt to find someone worthy, Oga ends up meeting Hilergard who is the baby’s maid. But with all the juveniles and demonic forces lurking around them, raising the baby is going to be much harder than they could’ve ever imagined.

Beelzebub Characters:

Oga Tatsumi

Oga Tatsumi is the main protagonist of the series who is a first-year high school student at the Ishiyama Academy. He is also the adoptive father of the Demon baby Beelzebub. He tries really hard to pass on the baby to someone else but he has no idea that he has secretly formed a contract with him. He walks around with an arrogant grin on his face and takes the shape of a demon when he’s really pissed. He has brown hair and sharp black eyes. He has a lean muscular build and is an extremely good fighter. His only friend at school is Furuichi and though he does not usually start any fights, when someone tries to confront him, he completely lashes out and enjoys inflicting the greatest amount of pain on his opponents. Oga is strong, self-centered and cares nothing for his fellow human. According to the Demon Lord, these traits make him the perfect fit for being the baby’s father.

Beelzebub

Kaiser de Emperana Beelzebub IV, also referred to as Baby Beel, is a baby Demon who is sent to Earth with the mission of destroying humanity. This is when Oga Tatsumi finds him and is forced to become his adoptive father. Despite being a demon himself, Baby Beel is very weak and even loses fights to cats and other human babies. That is the reason why he is drawn to strong people. He is also not too smart and struggles to find his way around the simplest of situations. Being a demonic baby, he loves things that most humans might find terrifying. This includes exposed muscle tissue, violence, bloodshed, and loud heavy metal music. Baby Beel completely despises clothes and is seen naked throughout the series. Initially, he is quite a crybaby but later he becomes much braver after Oga starts teaching him lessons about being a Demon’s son.

Hildegarde

Hilda is another demon who serves as Baby Beel’s adoptive mother and wet nurse. She is an extremely attractive young woman with glossy blonde hair and forest green eyes. She wears elegant clothes that represent Gothic Lolita fashion. When it comes to Beel, she completely fulfills her role as the baby’s mother and is very protective of him. But for others, she is extremely cold and is also really good at manipulating people into doing something that she wants them to do. She can be as vicious as Oga when it comes to violence. Even during fights, she calmly displays her fighting skills while taunting her opponents. Because of these traits, she has acquired the title of “Oga’s Bride”.

Furuichi Takayuki

Furuichi Takayuki is one of the main characters of the series who is Oga’s only friend at school. He has silvery hair that stands up at the back when he spots an interesting girl. Unlike Oga, he is very calm and rational but gives overly exaggerated reactions every time someone around him does something outrageous. He gets imaginative with his obsession with women. Because of all these perversions, he has acquired the title of “Creepichi” from all the girls who know him well. He is not strong at all and that’s the reason why he avoids getting into any kind of conflicts.
