Best Friend Forever Plot: What is it About?

The Steam page for ‘Best Friend Forever’ describes it as follows: “Step off the bus at Rainbow Bay and start a new life with your furever friend! Adopt a dog, find true love and experience all the wacky hijinks this colorful city has to offer.”

You head into the aptly named town of Rainbow Bay to start your new life of love and happiness. Of course, the first step in doing that is adopting one of four adorable little puppies at the very start and filling out a dating profile. After that, you are free to explore the town, meet new people and possibly even become romantically involved with someone really special. Obviously, dogs being a central theme in ‘Best Friend Forever’, all the dateable single people you meet around town will also have their very own furry best friends for you to pet.

You can eventually adopt even more dogs of a variety of different breeds, train them to enhance their skills and eventually graduate from the prestigious Paws Academy. Your fog will be a vital part of the storyline and gameplay in “Best Friend Forever’, following you everywhere you go and interacting with the story just as much as you.

Of course, ‘Best Friend Forever’ is as much about finding true love as it is about finding true friendship. The game will feature a large and extremely diverse cast of Non Player Characters (NPCs) for the player to befriend and date, each with their own pet dog. ‘Best Friend Forever’ was crafted a group of diverse people with ties to the LGBTQ+ community, and they wanted their game to reflect that as well. Whatever your sexual orientation, this game will have plenty of wonderful people for you to meet and get romantically involved with.

In case you’re someone who’s not interested in dating virtual video game people, but love the idea of playing with virtual video game dogs, ‘Best Friend Forever’ has you covered too. The game features an endless Sandbox mode, where your only responsibility is to pet, play and care for your dog.

Now coming to what is perhaps the blockbuster gameplay feature of this game’ – in a historical first, ‘Best Friend Forever’ is the first and only game in the world that rewards you with a combo streak for petting your dog as much as you possibly can. This provides you, the player with the once in a lifetime opportunity to claim the world record high score for petting dogs in a video game.

Best Friend Forever Developers: Who Are The People Behind It?

‘Best Friend Forever’ is developed by Wellington based New Zealand video game developer Starcolt and published by Alliance Media. Established this very year, Starcolt are a new studio and ‘Best Friend Forever’ is their first major project.

Previously, team member Calliope Ryder has spoken about the importance of representing and emphasizing diversity through their video games, given that all the members of Starcolt’s core development team identify as LGBTQ+.

Best Friend Forever Release Date: When And Where Can I Play It?

‘Best Friend Forever’ is set to launch on February 14, 2020. It will be available to play on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam and Itch platforms.
