Created by Dan Goor and Michael Schur, the show’s first season premiered on September 17, 2013, on Fox. In May 2018, the network canceled the series after season 5. Owing to a social media campaign by fans, the series was quickly picked up by the NBC network.

Over the years, it has been lauded by both the critics and the audiences for its performances and humor. It has won several awards like the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, the Golden Globe, and the Primetime Emmy Awards. After the amazing seventh season, fans are eagerly waiting for ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ season 8. Here is everything we know about it.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 8 Cast: Who can be in it?

Season 8 will see the return of the main cast members, namely Andy Samberg as Detective Jacob Peralta, Stephanie Beatriz as Detective Rosa Diaz, Terry Crews as Lieutenant Terry Jeffords, Melissa Fumero as Sergeant Amy Santiago, Joe Lo Truglio as Detective Charles Boyle and Andre Braugher as Captain Raymond Holt. Chelsea Peretti, (Civilian Administrator Gina Linetti), who was missing in season 7, might return in season 8, if the creators can figure out a way to bring her back.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 8 Plot: What can it be About?

Season 7 of ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ ends on a conclusive note, with Jake and Amy showing their baby boy and revealing his name. The build-up to it is filled with several tense moments with Jake panicking and rushing to be at the delivery room as Amy goes into labor. There is also a city-wide blackout. The next season might show how the couple strikes a balance between work and their newborn. The eighth season will also touch upon the Black Lives Matter movement.

Talking about it on Entertainment Weekly‘s podcast, Andre Braugher (Holt) said, “It’s a very complicated subject, but I think [the police] have to be portrayed much more realistically, in terms of this: the convention…that police breaking the law is okay because somehow it’s in the service of some greater good, is a myth that needs to be destroyed.” He also expressed that people’s perception towards the police has been affected, which will reflect in the show. It would be great to see how the makers tackle the issue while sticking to the genre boundaries of the show.
