Carmelo Anthony, real name Carmelo Kyam Anthony, was born on 29 May 1984 in New York City, US to Carmelo Iriarte and Mary. He was fond of playing basketball from an early age. Carmelo went to the Towson Catholic High School and enrolled in school basketball team. In summer 1999, he gained an unprecedented height which made him one of the top basketball players of the area. In his 6th game as an NBA player, Carmelo created an history by scoring 30 points and so became the second youngest player in the league’s history to score 30 points or above in a game.

Carmelo scored 41 points in a match against Seattle SuperSonics and became a Denver Nuggets record holder as well as the second youngest player in the league with 40 and above points. His incredible playing skills led him getting enrolled as a member of the US Basketball National Team in the year 2004. He bagged a bronze medal at the Athens Olympics, by averaging at 2.4 points and 1.6 rebounds.

During the 2005-06 season, Carmelo finished at the top 8th position in the NBA. He also resumed his 5-year contract he had with the Nuggets who ended the season at the third position.  He scored six straight 30 points games twice in the 2006-07 season. Carmelo was suspended for 15 games as he was involved in a Knicks-Nuggets brawl but later, he returned back by playing in a match against the Memphis Grizzlies in January 2007.

Carmelo was picked for the second successive time in January 2008 for the NBA All-Star Game. In the 2009-10 season, he scored an incredible 71 points in the first 2 games and took the total to 113 points in the 3rd game. The 2010-11 was Carmelo’s last season with the Nuggets as he was traded off to the New York Knicks in a multi-player deal in February 2011. By the year 2013, Carmelo’s extravagant performances for the Knocks made him become the first player of the franchise to have the highest selling jersey in the NBA.
