It seems Korean formats are the latest trend, ruling US television. After the tremendous success of ‘The Masked Singer‘, the remake of ‘I Can See Your Voice’, and the adaptation of ‘Better Late Than Never‘, another show that joins this list is ‘Celebrity Show-Off’. Based on Korea’s ‘My Little Television’, this virtually-filmed reality series pits celebs against each other — as they try to create the best content for mass consumption. Read on to know more about this show, which is all geared up for its grand premiere on TBS.

What is Celebrity Show-Off About?
Each episode of ‘Celebrity Show-Off’ features five stars who create quirky self-filmed content that is then uploaded online. Their end goal is to attract the maximum viewers so that their shows remain on-air. These digital series will be available on the YouTube channel of TBS from June 24, 2020, onward. The total scores are calculated, based on views, view duration, and engagement levels. Every week sees the celebs coming together in a virtual studio to check the cumulative numbers. The one with the lowest score is eliminated and replaced by a new star. The longer a person stays in the competition, the more money s/he earns for donating to charity.
Corie Henson EVP and head of unscripted programming for TBS, TNT, and truTV, explained the novel concept of ‘Celebrity Show-Off’ in a statement to Deadline: “Wait until you see what this cast has pulled off. From sharing never-before-seen talents to performing crazy stunts or even bringing on special guests, the celebs’ shows are creatively ambitious with DIY charm – since our cast are all working with the limitations of what they’ve got available at home.”
EP Craig Plestis said that after discovering ‘The Masked Singer’, he had been on the lookout of more interesting and innovative Korean formats. This is when he found the fresh, fun series, ‘My Little Television’, and decided to introduce the concept to American audiences. Plestis explained why he wanted to include the title on US tv: “It’s a cutting edge take on celebrity competition that will allow viewers to see their favorite stars in completely new ways, and put a smile on their faces in these trying times.”
