Chicago P.D. Season 7 Episode 18 Recap:
In episode 18 called Lines, the primary case revolves around the notorious druglord, Gael Rodriguez. Intelligence tries to implicate him for his crimes but is unsuccessful. Gael had even killed his lover by dissolving her in acid but he knows how to not leave any trace behind.
Rojas had sought Upton’s help in carrying out the sting operation since she wanted her ex boyfriend, Luis to get a shorter sentence. However, with no evidence against Gael, the deal is currently off the table. But Upton, desperate to see Gael behind bars, plants drugs in Gael’s car, getting him arrested — something that is not received well by Voight. Voight tells Upton: “This is something we’re doing now? Planting dope? Creating evidence?” Upton replies: “If the product was found in his car, it was his own product. Gael got off easy. Luis deserved the deal.”
But Voight is exasperated that Upton keeps crossing lines and hence, he assigns her to work with New York’s FBI task force for a few weeks. He yells at her in frustration: “I don’t want you to be me! That’s my job. Your job is to be you. I’m starting to wonder if you can do it.”
So what will happen in the end? Will Upton’s stint with the task force help her find her own self? Or will she become more like Voight? Guess, we will have to wait for the next episode (s) to find out.
