How did Chris Brown earn his wealth and money?
Chris Brown – Christopher Maurice Brown – is an American singer, songwriter, and actor. He was born in Virginia, the U.S.A. on 5th May 1989. During his childhood, he was a member of his church choir, and he also participated in several talent shows. His talent was discovered by a local production company called Hitmission Records. They took Brown on, gave him voice coaching, and arranged for him a demo package to seek a music deal for him in New York. Brown auditioned at Def Jam Recordings in New York, impressing the A&R executive, Tina Davis. For a couple of months, negotiations with Def Jam continued, but then Tina Davis was terminated and Brown asked her to be his manager. She accepted and went on to promote Brown to various labels. Amongst those were Jive Records, Warner Bros. Records, and J-Records. Since Jive Records was working with the likes of Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears, Brown ended up signing with it.
Subsequently, he released his first album in 2004. It was self-titled. The album reached number 2 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and was even certified double Platinum by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America). Three million copies were sold across the globe. His debut single, titled “Run It!” sat lavishly on top of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Brown became the first guy, since 1997 after Diddy, to have his debut single as a lead artist top the chart. “Exclusive” was his second album, released in 2007, which got him his second entry on the Billboard Hot 100 with the single “Kiss Kiss”. The RIAA certified this album as double Platinum as well.
Brown, other than his solo albums and singles, has also featured in multiple singles by other artists. Such as, “No Air” with Jordin Sparks, “Shawty Get Loose” with Lil Mama and T-Pain, and “Shortie like Mine” with Bow Wow. Brown’s career took a scandalous turn when, in 2009, he pleaded guilty to the charge of assaulting his then-girlfriend, Rihanna. His sentence comprised of six months of community service and five years of probation. This whole ordeal garnered him a lot of limelight from the media and music fans.
Later in 2009, he released his third album called “Graffiti”; it had the single “I Can Transform Ya” which was a top 20 entry. His fourth album was named “F.A.M.E.” and it came out in 2011. It had the famous singles, “Yeah 3x”, “Beautiful People”, and “Look at Me Now”. It was his first album to be number one on the Billboard 200 and also brought Brown his first Grammy award. His fifth album, “Fortune”, was released in 2012. Following it, came out the sixth album, “X” in 2014. His seventh album was released by the name “Royalty” in 2015. It was followed by his eighth album, in 2017, called “Heartbreak on a Full Moon”. Since the release of “Exclusive”, none of the following albums by Brown have impressed critics, except for “X”.
Chris Brown has also pursued a career in acting. He debuted in 2007 in the movie “Stomp the Yard”. Other movies include “Think Like a Man” (2012), and “Battle of the Year” (2013). On television, he has starred on “The O.C.” (2007), “All Of Us” (2006), “Chris Brown: Journey to South Africa” (2007), and “Black-ish” (2017). Brown has won multiple awards over the years: 14 Bet Awards, 5 Billboard Music Awards, and 5 Soul Train Awards.
