David Harbour Calls ‘Stranger Things’ Season 3 Finale “The Most Moving”

David Harbour, who is one of the major stars of Netflix’s ‘Stranger Things,’ has revealed what to expect from the upcoming third season finale. Speaking at MCM Comic-Con, Harbour said the new season will explore the relationships between the main characters in more significant detail, with the season’s eighth and final episode offering something “unexpected” and “moving.”

The actor portrays Jim Hopper, the Police Chief in the sleepy town of Hawkins, Indiana, in ‘Stranger Things.’ He leads a reckless life while battling with alcoholism and demons from his past, which includes the tragic death of his daughter of cancer. But as the series progresses, Hopper becomes more reasonable and plays a crucial role in saving Joyce’s son and accepts the mystery girl Eleven, played by Millie Bobby Brown, as his adopted daughter.

As quoted in Deadline, Harbour said, “Millie (Eleven) is growing up and I think that’s the terrifying thing for Hopper. He doesn’t like the idea of his baby daughter hanging out with boys. So the season starts with him a little bit uncomfortable. His daughter is becoming a teenager and beginning to find herself, so that’s scarier for Hopper than any Demogorgon creature that he’s going to have to deal with.”

“You get to see a lot of that throughout the season and it’s very unexpected what happens in the end and it’s very, very moving. I think episode eight is the most moving thing we’ve ever shot,” he added.

Matt Duffer, who is the co-creator of the show, hinted a transition of narrative in the upcoming season. He said that the change is a reflection of the kids growing up. Duffer also added that the transition is going to be “messy, awkward and painful.”

The inevitable change is also evident in the official trailer for ‘Stranger Things‘ season 3. “We’re not kids anymore. What did you think, we’re just going to sit in my basement all day and play games for the rest of our lives.?” asks Mike (played by Finn Wolfhard) who is one of the three friends of Will Byers. The plot revolves around the mysterious disappearance of a young boy, secret experiments, terrifying supernatural powers, and a strange little girl called Eleven. The series pays tributes to classic sci-fi and horror in the ’80s. ‘Stranger Things’ has earned 31 Emmy nominations so far.

The trailer hints the kids have changed a lot over the course of three years. The sci-fi horror series is created, written, and directed by the Duffer Brothers. Seasons 1 and 2 are currently available for streaming on Netflix.
