Deputy Season 2

Although ‘Deputy’ was unable to rake in big bucks and received mixed reviews from the critics, the crime drama managed to garner a strong fanbase, not reliant upon the technical flaws. The procedural cop drama revolves around the life of a fifth-generation lawman, Deputy Bill Hollister, who is asked to step into the position of the Acting Sheriff at the LACD, after his predecessor passes away suffering a cardiac arrest. He bands together with a team of proficient detectives, who share his vibe and stop at nothing until justice is served.

Created by Will Beall, the show was lauded for its well-paced action sequences, the buddy-cop dynamic between the two leads, and Stephen Dorff’s charismatic performance as Bill Hollister. Many also pointed out its resemblance to ‘Training Day,’ ‘End of Watch,’ and ‘Sabotage.’ Now in case you’re a fan and are wondering: Will ‘Deputy’ return for a season 2? Well, we might be able to help you with that. Read on.

Deputy Season 2 Release Date

‘Deputy’ season 1 premiered on January 2, 2020, and concluded on March 26, 2020, after airing 13 episodes with a runtime of 45-50 minutes each.

As far as season 2 is concerned, here’s what we know. Despite the unfavorable reviews, the show managed to tickle the fancy of cop drama fans who appreciated the show for its modern-day western vibe and for touching upon themes like immigration, foster care, gender fluidity, etc. Therefore, Fox might roll the dice and renew the show for another season. If and when that happens, we expect ‘Deputy’ season 2 to release sometime in January 2021, on Fox.

Deputy Season 2 Cast: Who is in it?

Almost all the characters from the first season might reprise their roles in season 2.

Stephen Dorff will definitely return to play the rule-bending honest Acting Sheriff, Bill Hollister. You may recognize him as Roland West from HBO’s anthology series ‘True Detective.’ Bex Taylor-Klaus of ‘Scream’ TV series and ‘Arrow’ fame, will join Bill again as Detective (formerly Deputy) Brianna Bishop.

The other returning characters include Yara Martinez as Bill’s wife Dr. Paula Reyes, Brian Van Holt as Deputy Cade Ward, Valeria Jauregui as Bill’s daughter Maggie Hollister, Shane Paul McGhie as Bill’s god-son Deputy Joseph Harris, Natalia Cigliuti as Cade’s wife Teresa Ward, Mark Moses as Undersheriff Jerry London, Danielle Moné Truitt as Deputy Charlie Minnick, and Jaime Ray Newman as DA Carol Riley. There can be several fresh additions to the cast of season 2, including some guest appearances.

Deputy Season 2 Plot: What can it be About?

The first season of ‘Deputy’ follows Bill Hollister, who reluctantly assumes the position of the Acting Sheriff of Los Angeles County Department. He makes it his life goal to rid the department of bureaucratic interference and inculcate values like team spirit and honor among his officers. Throughout the season, Bill strives to ensure that his family doesn’t face the brunt of his dominant position. After going back and forth for a while, Bill finally announces his candidacy for Sheriff, with the support of his team of detectives and his wife Paula and daughter Maggie, who believe if there is one person who can reform the justice system in the department, it’s Bill.

Season 2 might continue showcasing Bill Hollister’s cowboy diplomacy. With a firm base in the department, it will now be more accessible for Bill to make sure that his fellow law bringers don’t contaminate the system by mixing politics with police priorities. We can expect Bill’s team to solve more harrowing cases with the help of one another, while also dealing with the complications in their personal lives.
