How did Doug Stanhope earn his money and wealth?

Doug Stanhope was born on 25th March 1967 at Worcester, Massachusetts, USA. Stanhope is a stand-up comedian, actor, and author. In 1990, Stanhope began his career as a stand-up comedy artist. He performed in comedy festivals like Just For Laughs held in Montreal, Quebec, Canada in every July. He also performed in US Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colorado and also in Chicago Comedy Festival. Stanhope also performed in world’s largest arts festival, The Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Edinburgh, Scotland.

In 2002, Stanhope had his own prank show Invasion of Hidden Cameras on Fox. Stanhope also was one of the pranksters on a hidden camera reality television series Spy TV which was hosted by Michael LAN Black and Ali Landry. In the show, the pranks were pulled on people by their friends. The show was broadcasted on NBC. In 2003, Stanhope co-hosted the comedy television show The Man Show, aired on Comedy Central, along with Joe Rogan. He continued hosting the show till 2004. Stanhope hosted his own radio show in 2005 on SIRIUS Satellite Radio. He also hosted the show Girls Gone Wild: America Uncovered that year.

In 2006, Stanhope’s statement on Irish women in Cat Laughs Comedy Festival at Kilkenny, Ireland created a controversy. In the segment, he said that Irish men commit pedophilia because the Irish women are ugly. In 2009, Stanhope released his seventh stand-up comedy album, From Across the Street. The album was recorded live at Level 5 City Stage in Wilmington, North Carolina. The same year London’s The Guardian newspaper placed him in the top 5 of 20 Best Live Shows of 2009.

In 2010, Stanhope aired a series of vignettes during the news review programme Newswipe with Charlie Brooker broadcasted on BBC Four. He did the same in Charlie Brooker’s Weekly Wipe on HD in 2013. The stand-up comedy album  Oslo: Burning The Bridge To Nowhere, was released by Stanhope along with Roadrunner Records under their new label Roadrunner Comedy in 2011. Stanhope debuted his eponymous podcast in 2013. It was recorded out of his home in Bieber, Arizona. The following year, All Things Comedy network hosted “the Doug Stanhope Podcast”.

Stanhope released his book Digging Up Mother: A Love Story, which was about his life with his mother. His mother suffered from emphysema, killed herself in 2008 with a heady cocktail of White Russians and perception of morphine. Stanhope is also known for establishing the group named “The Unbookables”, which was a group of touring comics. The Unbookables featured artists like Andy Andrist, James Inman, and Brendon Walsh. Their first CD is Morbid Obscenity. Stanhope also appeared in the film telling the caustic joke on baby, The Aristocrats.
