Needless to mention, Dr. Sandra Lee, the star of the hit ‘Dr. Pimple Popper’ franchise, is the host for its spinoff, ‘Before the Pop’ as well. A board-certified dermatologist, Lee is a resident of Southern California. She is a popular YouTuber, whose clips have gone viral — with fans getting a weird satisfaction from her pimple-popping videos. Lee is additionally a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and the American Society for Mohs Surgery.

What is Dr. Pimple Popper: Before The Pop About?

A series fit for fans of medical reality shows, ‘Dr. Pimple Popper: Before the Pop’ joins TLC’s ‘Medical Marvels’ on Thursday nights. Packed with shocks, awes, and healing, its episodes feature virtual, quarantine-safe patient consultations. These telemedicine appointments help the host, Dr. Sandra Lee, in deciding if she can help her patients in the future. As detailed by TLC’s press release, “‘Before the Pop’ showcases more pops than ever!”

Lee takes up virtual appointments with people suffering from skin ailments who cannot visit her office in-person. She gets a heads up on the cases via telemedicine and then gives advice to the individuals, afflicted with worrisome skin disorders. Some conditions are extremely serious and have worsened over the pandemic-induced stay-at-home orders. In contrast to the original series where Lee checks, pinches, and squeezes eruptions herself, in ‘Before the Pop’, patients have no choice but to take matters into their own hands — literally! Fans watch on as the patients abide by Lee’s detailed direction and carry out the poking and prodding themselves, in the virtual sessions. TLC’s press release says: “Dr. Lee will give patients the answer they long to hear: whether or not she can help them and take them on as a patient in the future.”
