How did Drew Carey earn his money and wealth?

Drew Carey is a multifaceted person who is not only an actor but also a writer, TV host and comedian. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on May 23, 1958. During his school days, he used to play the trumpet and cornet in the marching band of his School. He enrolled into college in Kent State University but had to leave it because of poor grades. He joined the United State Marine Corps Reserve and served there for six years until 1986.

Post his career in the Marine Corps, Drew Carey started a career in stand-up comedy and became a known face in the stand-up comedy circle. He even went on to write his own stand-up comedy special and called it “Drew Carey: Human Cartoon” and was aired on Showtime. He won the Best Writing Award from “CableACE Award”. Carey was exposed to TV and film offers and started his film career in “Coneheads” (1993).

He starred in the “Drew Carey Show” (1995) where he played a fictionalized version of himself as an everyday man and showcased his work and home life. He also became the host of the improvisational comedy show titled “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” (1998) until it was discontinued in 2006. He became a part of “Comedy Central Roast” (1998) and later “Drew Carey’s Green Screen Show” (2004). He began hosting another show “Drew Carey’s Improv-A-Ganza” (2011). He is also the founder of “Improv All-Stars” and traveled all around the US at comedy clubs.

Carey started hosting game shows from 2007 and started with “Power of 10”, then “The Price of Right” (2007). He was also featured in commercials for restaurants like “The Great Root Bear” in the late 1990’s. He also appeared in the video “It’s All About The Pentiums”, a song by “Weird Al’ Yankovic” (1999). He has also played the role of a retired Marine in “NCSI” (2018).

Carey published his autobiography titled “Dirty Jokes and Beer: Stories of the Unrefined” (1997) which amongst others, touched upon his childhood days and how he took up stand-up comedy.
