How did Eddie Griffin earn his money and wealth?

Eddie Griffin is one of the most popular American stand-up comedians, writer, and actor. He is best known for portraying the role of Eddie Sherman on the renowned television sitcom, “Malcolm & Eddie”. He came into limelight for his lead role in the 2002 comedy film, “Undercover Brother”. He was born on 15th, July 1968 in Kansas City, Missouri.  At the age of 15 years, in 1984 he moved to Compton, California. He completed his graduation from Compton High in 1984. He got enrolled in biological engineering at the University of Miami. But, in 1988, he was dropped out from the college after a semester. This made him move to New York to pursue his career in the field of comedy.

Since his early childhood days only, he had an inclination for comedy. He was voted as the class clown for consecutively three years at his high school. He began his journey into the comedy spree when he received a dare from his cousin, which was to perform a short stand-up comedy at the local comedy club, Stanford, and Sons. He was asked to perform just for three minutes, but he ended up performing for 45 minutes. And it was this incident which struck him to pursue a career in comedy and he made his way to Los Angeles.

Griffin has played in several films such as “The Meteor Man” (1993), “Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo” (1999), “Double Take” (2001), “Undercover Brother” and “John Q” (2002), “Scary Movie 3” (2003), “Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo” and “The Walking Dead” (2005), and “Norbit” (2007). In 2007, he got starred in “Urban Justice”, a thriller set in New Mexico. He also appeared in the UPN television series “Malcolm & Eddie” from 1996 till 2000. He came in number #62 rank on Comedy Central’s list of the 100 Greatest Standups of All Time. Comedy Central released his album “You Can Tell’em I Said It” on DVD in 2011.

He performed on two tracks from Dr. Dre’s 1999 album, 2001, and the intro track from The D.O.C.’s 1996 album “Helter Skelter”. He is popularly known for his comedic routine of imitating Michael Jackson on “crack cocaine”. He also has appeared on commercials for Miller Beer’s Man Laws. He also displayed an appearance on Chappelle’s Show in the skit “World Series of Dice” playing the role of Grits n’ Gravy.

Currently, Eddie plays on both, “The Eddie Griffin Experience” and “The Comedy Get Down”. He performs at the King’s room at Rio Las Vegas, for four nights in a week. He has received an award for his stand-up comedy ‘Dysfunctional Family’, which he himself wrote, produced and starred. He also earned a decent amount of money from the roles in the 50 odd films that he has acted in. His current net worth is around $6 million. He has been married thrice and has 9 children.
