Emilio Estevez was born on May 12th, 1962, at Staten Island, New York, U.S. Estevez went to Santa Monica High School in California. Estevez had a taste in acting and film directing from the very young age. While being a student at  Monica High School, Estevez co-wrote and starred in high school play Echoes of an Era. The play was about Vietnam veterans and everyone appreciated his performance. In 1982, Estevez worked along with his father, Martin Sheen, in  ABC TV-film In Custody of Strangers about juveniles in jail. During the period he was a member of Brat Pack, a group of young actors who frequently appeared together in teen-oriented coming-of-age films. The team produced the drama film The Outsiders, an adaptation of the novel of the same name by S. E. Hinton.

Also in the year 1982, Estevez appeared in NBC-TV’s thrillers Nightmares and Tex. Later he performed in the cult film Repo Man (1984) by Alex Cox. Estevez then starred in coming of age comedy-drama film The Breakfast Club (1985), directed by John Hughes. He later starred as Kirby “Kirbo” Keager, in coming-of-age film St. Elmo’s Fire by Joel Schumacher. In 1985, Estevez co-wrote and starred in drama film That was Then… This Is Now. The film is based on the novel of the same name by S. E. Hinton, and also a sequel to The Outsiders. He then starred in horror dark comedy Maximum Overdrive (1986). For his performance in the movie, he was nominated to Golden Raspberry Award.

Estevez written, directed and starred in the film Wisdom, a romantic crime thriller. He also starred in crime-comedy Stakeout (1987) and in the western film directed by Christopher Clan, Young Guns (1988) and also in its sequel Young Guns II: Blaze of Glory (1990).

In 1990, Estevez written, directed and co-starred with his brother Charlie Sheen in black comedy film Men At Work. In 1992, he starred in The Mighty Duck, a sports-comedy film by Stephen Herek. The following year, he starred in Judgement Night (1993), Loaded Weapon (1993), and Another Stakeout. Estevez appeared in the TV film Dollar from Dead (1998), Late Last Night (1999), and in Rated X (2000). Also in the year 2000, he starred in the film Sand, which won Moxei! Award.

Estevez directed the 2006 drama film, Bobby. Also in the year, he played a voice role in adventure comedy fantasy animated film Arthur and the Invisible. In 2010, he directed the film The Way. Apart from films, Estevez also appeared in a number of TV shows as guest or actor.
