Escape at Dannemora is a short series based on real crime events. It is based on a prison escape by two prisoners from the high-security confinement of prison and how they are captured eventually. The show aired on Showtime with Ben Stiller directing the series and contained 7 episodes. The creators of the series are Brett Johnson (Mad Men) and Michael Tolkin (The Player).
Escape at Dannemora Season 1: Who is in it?
Actor Benicio del Toro plays the role of Richard Matt, who is a convicted murderer. Patricia Arquette plays the role of Tilly Mitchell, who is a married prison worker and as per the real events, she gets involved in a romantic relationship with two convicts Matt and Sweat. She was the major help in bringing them to escape from the high-security prison.
Paul Dano plays the role of another convicted prisoner, David Sweat. Bonnie Hunt is the New York State Inspector who leads the investigation in the prison escape case and this role is played by Catherine Leahy Scott. Michael Imperioli plays as Andrew Cuomo who is the Governor of New York and Eric Lange and Lyle Mitchell. We would be expected to see the same cast back in their respective roles when season 2 is announced.
Escape at Dannemora Plot Season 1: What is it about?
Based on the true events of a prison break that happened in 2015 at the Clinton Correctional Facility in upstate New York, Escape at Dannemora is directed by Ben Stiller and includes a stellar cast. This resulted in the manhunt campaign of the two prisoners, who were aided by a married prison worker who falls in love with these two convicts.
The show produced under Red Hour Productions contains 7 episodes. The final episode of the series was a whopping 98 minutes long and did a good job to provide the series with a conclusive end. Thus, it seems unlikely that the story will be taken forward in another direction. Season 1 should mark the end of it.
Escape at Dannemora Season 2 Release Date: When will it premiere?
The show got its world premiere at Cannes in October. It was showcased on the first day of Mipcom, the biggest event on the international TV calendar. The expectation was that the show would premiere on Showtime right after that but it was pushed to November 18, 2018, which marked its air date. Escape at Dannemora was planned as a seven part mini-series that opened to a lacklustre rating which eventually improved as new episodes were aired. Season 1 ended with a 0.719 million viewership and received generally positive reviews. However, since there is limited source material, Escape at Dannemora may not be picked up for season 2. Season 1 neatly wraps up the story and leaves no threads open to concoct a second season. This isn’t to say the series has been cancelled but no news with regards to it has been released either so far. We will update this section when a decision is made.
