FOX’s ‘Filthy Rich’ is a Southern Gothic sitcom that managed to charm fans with its scandalous storylines, funny antics, punctuated with copious amounts of religious spice. It follows the strong-willed Monreaux clan matriarch, Margaret as she deals with the aftermath of her husband, Eugene Monreaux’s apparent death. Soon after Eugene’s demise, she discovers that he had fathered three illegitimate children with three different women. In the light of this freshly unearthed secret, Margaret also needs to handle the Monreaux family business, which includes the Sunny Network and the Sunny Club.

Following its premiere, the soapy drama opened to mixed reviews. And this makes us wonder if we will see a ‘Filthy Rich’ season 2. Well, here is everything we have learned so far about the show’s future.

Filthy Rich Season 2 Release Date: Renewed or Canceled?

‘Filthy Rich’ season 1 premiered on September 21, 2020, on FOX, and wrapped up with its 10th episode on November 30, 2020. In spite of a promising cast and fine performances, FOX decided to ax the show just after a single season run. In fact, the channel announced that ‘Filthy Rich’ won’t have a second outing — just after the series dropped its fifth episode.

According to sources, high production costs because of the COVID-19 pandemic played a major role in the cancelation. Even in terms of ratings, season one did not fare well — failing to attract strong audience responses to secure a new iteration. ‘Filthy Rich’ averaged a mere 3.2 million viewers and a 0.5 rating among adults in the 18-49 demo — that two after seven days of delayed viewing. The aforementioned reasons are enough for FOX to not experiment further with a project that had opened to a shaky start.

To sum it up, let us bow our heads in reverence to this fallen soapy drama. It is confirmed that ‘Filthy Rich’ season 2 stands officially canceled on FOX.

Filthy Rich Cast: Who is in it?

Kim Cattrall from ‘Sex and the City’ fame, leads the cast as Margaret Monreaux, the co-founder of the Sunshine Network. Margaret is in wedlock to the apparently deceased husband Eugene (played by Gerald McRaney). It is later revealed that Eugene is not dead. Eugene is a father to three illegitimate children: Ginger Sweet (portrayed by Melia Kreiling), Antonio Rivera (essayed by Benjamin Levy Aguilar), and Jason Conley (played by Mark L. Young). Margaret and Eugene’s two legitimate children are Rose (enacted by Aubrey Dollar) and Eric (played by Corey Cott). We also have Steve Harris as Franklin Lee (the Monreaux family lawyer), Olivia Macklin as Becky (Eric’s wife), and Aaron Lazar as Reverend Paul Luke Thomas.
