Flo Rida is the professional name of Tramar Lacel Dillard who is a rapper, singer, composer, and songwriter. He was born on September 17, 1979, in Carol City, Florida. Flo Rida’s family was always involved in music and he and his seven sisters were always involved in gospel music. He started rapping with an amateur rap group “The GroundHoggs” when he was in ninth grade. He was inspired to join them since his brother in law was a hype man for “2 Live Crew”, a local rap group. Flo Rida and his group used the underground studios in Carver Ranches to record their songs. After his schooling, Flo Rida went to the University of Nevada to study international business management in 1998. He attended it for only two months. He also attended Barry University but again, only for two months.

Flo Rida developed a friendship with Fresh Kid Ice who asked him to become his hype man. Flo Rida accepted and did a show with him in Hawaii. Fresh Kid Ice also featured him in his album “Freaky Chinese” (2004). He released his debut album “Mail on Sunday” in 2008. It included the single “Low” which featured T-Pain and peaked at number 1 in the Billboard Hot 100. Charts. The other singles from the album were”Elevator” with Timbaland, “Roll” with Sean Kingston and “In the Ayer” with will.i.am.

He released his second album “R.O.O.T.S.” in 2009 which also included the single “Right Round” with Ke$ha. It was the eighth best selling rap album in 2009. The single “Right Round” was used in movies like “The Hangover”, “Rush Hour” and “Pitch Perfect”. In 2010, Flo Rida released “Only One Flo (Part 1) which included the single “Club Can’t Handle Me” where he featured David Guetta. The single was also a part of the “Step Up 3D”. His next album “Wild Ones” released in 2012. He is working on his latest studio album and has released singles like “Cake” (2016) which featured 99 Percent and “Hola” (2017) which featured singer Maluma.

Flo Rida has collaborated with other music artists such as Lil Wayne in “American Superstar”, Trey Songz, Rick Ross in “Speedin’”, Michelle Williams in “We Break the Dawn”, Madonna in “4 Minutes” remix and Sia in “Wild Ones”.

Flo Rida has also started his own record label “International Music Group” and has signed up Brianna, a rapper, and Git Fresh.
