‘Fuller House’, a sequel to the 1987-1995 American sitcom ‘Full House’, first aired on Netflix on February 26, 2016, and since then, has entertained fans of the original series and new audiences alike through the four seasons. The good news for the fans is that the show has been renewed for a fifth season and here’s everything we know about it.

Fuller House Cast: Who is in it?

Interestingly, ‘Fuller House’ is sequel to ‘Full House’ in the truest sense – it’s not just a sequel in terms of the story, but also in terms of the cast.

In the show, Candace Cameron Bure, who played the role of DJ Tanner in ‘Full House’, returns as DJ Tanner-Fuller. Similarly, Jodie Sweetin, too, returns in her role of DJ’s sister, Stephanie Tanner, as does Andrea Barber as DJ’s best friend, Kimmy Gibbler. Other notable ‘Full House’ cast members who return to ‘Fuller House’ include Bob Saget as Danny Tanner, John Stamos as Jesse Katsopolis, Dave Coulier as Joey Gladstone, and Scott Weinger as DJ’s high-school sweetheart, Steve Hale. However, considering the fact that ‘Fuller House’ deals with the third generation of the Tanner family that won audiences’ hearts in ‘Full House’, there are new additions to the cast.

In ‘Fuller House’, we follow the story of DJ Tanner-Fuller and her three children. Michael Campion plays the role of DJ’s mischievous teenage son, Jackson Fuller, while Elias Harger plays DJ’s second son, Max Fuller. Meanwhile, Daniel Messitt and Fox Messitt both play the role of DJ’s infant son, Tommy Fuller Jr. Additionally, Soni Bringas plays the role of Kimmy’s teenage daughter, Ramona Gibbler.

Juan Pablo Di Pace plays the role of Kimmy’s ex-husband/fiancee Fernando Hernandez-Guerrero-Fernandez-Guerrero, and Adam Hagenbuch plays Kimmy’s younger brother Jimmy, who gets engaged to Stephanie in the show.

Fuller House Plot: What is it about?

For those unaware, the original television series, ‘Full House’ followed the story of Danny Tanner, a recently divorced man trying to bring up his three daughters – DJ, Stephanie, and Michelle. The show traces Danny as he struggles to juggle work and family life. Finally, unable to raise his daughters by himself, Danny enlists the help of his close pals Jesse Katsopolis and Joey Gladstone. Together, the trio bring up the daughters.

In a similar fashion, ‘Fuller House’ jumps years ahead, and brings to viewers the life of DJ Tanner-Fuller, who finds herself in the same predicament as her father. After her firefighter husband Tommy Fuller passes away, DJ finds her hands full trying to work as a full-time veterinarian and raise her three kids. With her hands full, DJ, like her father Danny, enlists the help of her sister Stephanie and her best friend Kimmy. Stephanie moves in with DJ, as does Kimmy and her teenage daughter Ramona, and together, DJ, Stephanie and Kimmy try to raise the children.

The four seasons of ‘Fuller House’ that has aired so far has followed the drama unfolding within the Tanner-Fuller family and their associates, while also focusing on the drama unfolding in each person’s individual lives.

Now that Season 4 has concluded, we have some clue on what the final season, Season 5, could be all about (spoilers ahead!). At the end of Season 4, Stephanie’s surrogate baby is born and Jimmy proposes to her. Therefore, it’s quite possible that Season 5 will deal with Stephanie’s experience of becoming a mother – an experience that is sure to be shaped by the guidance of DJ and Kimmy. Meanwhile, Season 4 also shows DJ and Steve, and Kimmy and Fernando to be in solid relationships. Given the fact that Jimmy has already proposed to Stephanie, Season 5 could also all the three women get married to their sweethearts.

In terms of ratings, ‘Fuller House’ has not found praise among television critics. While all seasons of the show has not received equal attention from critics, Seasons 1 and 2 of the show received poor reviews – Season 1 has a score of 34% on Rotten Tomatoes, while Season 2 has fared marginally better with a score of 50%. Audiences, however, seem to have enjoyed the show more than critics have, and ‘Fuller House’ enjoys an overall rating of 6.9/10 on IMDb.

Fuller House Season 5 Release Date: When will it premiere?

Fuller House season 4 premiered on December 14, 2018. A month after that, Netflix renewed ‘Fuller House’ for a fifth season and final season. With ‘Fuller House’ coming to an end, Season 5 will bring the total season tally of the franchise to 13 – eight seasons of the original ABC comedy ‘Full House’, and five seasons of ‘Fuller House’.
