HarmonQuest Season 3: Premiere Date, Cast, Recap, Update

‘HarmonQuest’ is a live improvisation American adult animated television show that has been conceptualized and conceived by Dan Harmon and Spencer Crittenden. The former is a creator, writer and producer of well-known shows like ‘Rick and Morty‘ and ‘The Community’. The show has been named after its creator Dan Harmon but he later admitted that he felt it was a mistake naming so since it had started as a working title and later just stayed anyway. The other characters in the show are played by Dan’s ex-wife Erin McGathy and Jeff Davis. These four are the main characters and then there are guest characters played by different nerdy celebrities in each of the 23-minute episodes. What really stands out about ‘HarmonQuest’ is how it takes a very unique half-animated half-live action approach towards every episode.

It might sound extremely boring to just watch a bunch of people gathered around on a table playing ‘Dungeons and Dragons‘. But ‘HarmonQuest’ is much more entertaining than it seems. While its base is literally a bunch of comedian gamers sitting down and playing ‘D&D’, it’s the animation of the show that makes it a lot more interesting. The quality of animation isn’t all that great but it just goes really well with its comic tone. If its quality was any better, the show would certainly lose its charm. The star guests who are invited keep changing with every episode, so the quality can slightly vary. But the majority of them, especially Thomas Middleditch and Kumail Nanjiani, make it extremely entertaining and hilarious. At the end of the day, ‘HarmonQuest’ is a great time killer and is as perfect as background television can ever be.

HarmonQuest Season 3 Release Date: When will it premiere?

‘HarmonQuest’ season 1 premiered on July 14, 2016 and was followed by another season which released on September 15, 2017. Since its release, the show has generated a lot of excitement amongst the audience, especially gamers and its comic depiction of an entirely new genre that involves elements of animation, live-action and gaming has captured the attention of a wide array of viewers. The first two seasons of the show have been a huge success with the fans loving its RPG-like fantasy elements.

Somewhere in October 2018, it was announced that VRV will be renewing the show for a whole a season and since then, for obvious reasons, most fans have been beyond excited. All this waiting is now going to pay off as ‘HarmonQuest’ season 3 is to release on August 18, 2019. It is very likely that this season will follow the same 10-episode format of season one and two and we hope that it will live up to the hype that it has created so far.

HarmonQuest Plot:

The American Adult show is hosted by Dan Harmon, Erin McGathy, Jeff B. Davis and the game master Spencer Crittenden who perform a fantasy role-playing in front of a live audience. The original podcast version of this show is held at Victory Studios in Glendale. In each episode, a special guest player is invited on the sets. This podcast format of the show is then mixed with elements of animation here and there which reflects upon the creativity of all those involved in it.

So it’s pretty much like a role-playing video game panning out in front of your eyes and if you’re a sucker for RPG games like ‘Pathfinder’ and ‘Dungeons and Dragons’, this show certainly has something for you. Even if you’re not much of a gamer, you will have a pretty good time watching it as its comic relief is enough to give you a fit of laughter.

HarmonQuest Characters:

Fondue Zubag

Zubag comes from the Earthscar Village, which is basically a safe place for all those who have been shunned by the society. This includes orcs, half-orcs, and other non-human races. He is sent on the mission to stop the Heralds who attack the village on the day of Restoration ritual. He is gay and comes out of the closet in the 8th episode of the first season. His unresolved issues with his father lead to him becoming a coward. Because of this, he has to face a lot of negative comments from the people in his group

Boneweevil

Boneweevil is a friend of the protagonist who is also a native of the Earthscar Village. His creative plans in combat are his popular streak. Some of these elaborate plans work out better than others. Being a goblin, he is the most fragile in the group, but his skills in combat provide him with the confidence he needs to defeat monsters bigger than him. He has also been labeled as the “smart guy” for his proficiency in solving difficult puzzles and riddles.

Beor O’Shift

Beor O’Shift is the main female protagonist of the show who comes face to face with Fondue and Boneweevil while running from the Manticore cultists. After this, she quickly befriends them and fights alongside these newly made friends in defeating those who have attacked the village. Her barbarian rage, which is her best skill, provides her with an extra ability of speed and strength. Her weapon of choice is an axe that she names “Only Friend”. In the later episodes, she finds a new weapon, a magical sword that she names “New Friend”.
