12 Hollywood Roles Perfect for Kamal Hassan

7.  Jimmy the Gent Burke (Goodfellas)

Goodfellas-Best-biopics

James “Jimmy the Gent” Burke was played by Robert de Neiro as an infamous Irish-American gangster and a unsympathetic criminal. To give such a role to any actor wouldn’t justify the required details and sincerity required. We have seen Kamal Hassan pay a role of a gangster in the movie “Nayagan” for which he earned National Film Award for Best Actor. Kamal Hassan would definitely nail this role and you might even end up having goose bumps.

8. Jacob Peterson (After The Wedding)

Jacob Peterson has devoted his life to an orphanage in India and has been struggling and  working hard to keep the orphanage going. He undergoes a situation where he may find great funding for his orphanage but it would bring back the old broken past once again and he is faced with a great dilemma to choose between the orphanage and his family. The movie is very emotional and melodramatic. Kamal Hassan has been a master at portraying his emotional roles. This role of a self righteous hard working man who is in the middle of an emotional turmoil may best suit his taste.

9. Dr. Malcolm Sayer (Awakenings)

The movie is inspired by real life story of Oliver Sacks who discovered the success of L-Dopa drug with Parkinson’s patients. While the doctor is often shown working with catatonic patients and shown to arrange fo funds to test L-Dopa drug to give new life to patients. The role of a doctor is itself full of empathy, stress handler and full of compassion. Mr. Kamal Hasan would fit the role perfectly as he has played such roles earlier.

10. Mr. Han (The Karate Kid)

A kung fu teacher gives a kid a lesson of peace and inner control through routine activities turned into martial arts practise. Although Kamal Hassan might lack the Chinese look and the level of expertise that Jackie Chan possesses but still he will come out good in this role as a teacher who makes you realize the significance of small thing in life. A movie inspired by this film can be made based on Kalaripayattu (pronounced as Kalarippayatt), a martial art, which originated as a style in Kerala, southern India and Kamal Hassan may be teaching the basics of it to the students.

11. Benjamin Button (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button)

The Curious Case of Benjamin button presents an idea of life starting from an old age and ending as a child. Benjamin (Played by Brad Pitt) is born old, becomes younger as he grows. With life working for him in reverse order, we see a lot of changes and  improvisations in his acting. Why I believe that Mr. Kamal Hasan would do an extremely good job in such a movie is due to his acting in “Dasavathaaram” wherein he  played 10 different roles in a single movie.

12. Guido Orefice (Life is Beautiful)

Guido Orefice, a Jewish Italian book shop owner, tries to shield his son from the horrors of life in a Nazi Camp. The story begins with a love story, boy trying to impress girl, and as a result first half is all romance. It is only in the second half that tells the story of a father trying to convince his son that he is in a game and tries to minimize the effect of staying in a Nazi camp. The role would have been done nicely by the veteran actor and his performance as a Dad would have definitely bagged him an academy award nomination.
