Homeland Season 8 Episode 8 Recap:

In the eighth episode of the eighth season of ‘Homeland,’ Haqqani finds himself in front of a firing squad. However, Hayes calls G’ulom to tell him that Haqqani’s son has Max in captivity. Max will be killed if Haqqani is not spared. A CIA official tells Hayes that the chances of rescuing Max using a special-ops mission are 50/50. Zabel tells an angry Hayes that a failure would be much worse than losing Max’s life.

Saul goes to meet Haqqani but the latter is ordered to stand in front of a firing squad again and killed. Jalal shoots Max and leaves. Carrie, who is there with Yevgeny calls Saul to tell him that he failed in protecting Max. Jalal announces that it was he who shot down the President’s helicopter at a Taliban rally.

Zabel asks a friend to dig up something compromising about Max and Wellington since the latter wants to amend a speech of his. The friend tells him of Jalal’s announcement. Wellington goes to Hayes with the information and a revised speech. Hayes tells the press and the nation that it was Jalal to shot the President’s helicopter and wishes for Pakistan to support the USA in catching him.

Saul comes to pick up Max’s body and Carrie tells him that she possesses information regarding the President’s flight recorder. The troops with Saul intend on searching Carrie and handcuffing her. However, Carrie pulls out her gun on the troops and Saul (who does try to save her) and leaves with Yevgeny. Towards the end, Carrie says that she knows where the flight recorder is.
