Where to Stream How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World?

Animated movies have improved massively in recent times, especially due to advancement in technology. Although Disney remains the undisputed kings of animation, there are some other houses that have come up with successful franchises. ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ is one such example; it comes from DreamWorks Animation and Universal Pictures.

Based on Cressida Cowell’s book series of the same name, ‘How To Train Your Dragon’ is essentially a trilogy and ‘How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World’ makes up the final installment. Since its release, the film has been praised for its action sequences, voice acting, the emotional weight of the story, and obviously the animation. If you have followed the series you will want to watch ‘How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World’ to find out the befitting conclusion that the makers have managed to reach.

Considering the commercial and critical success of the movie, you must be wondering where you can see it, in case you have not watched it all, or are planning to rewatch it. However, before we tell you that, let us tell you the plot of ‘How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World’.

What is How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World About?

The events of ‘How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World’ take place a year after the second film. We see Hiccup (voiced by Jay Baruchel) along with Toothless and the other fellow dragon riders trying to continue their rescue of captured dragons to bring them back to Berk, the utopia where humans and dragons coexist peacefully. However, their attempts are too successful, and soon Berk becomes overcrowded. Hiccup hits upon the idea to find the Hidden World, that is a safe haven for dragons, that his late father Stoick (voiced by Gerard Butler) talked about.

Meanwhile, we see that the warlords give a white female Fury to Grimmel the Grisly (voiced by F. Murray Abraham), the infamous dragon hunter so that he can use this as bait and capture the alpha, Toothless, for the warlords. Toothless discovers the White Fury that Astrid (voiced by America Ferrera) dubs as ‘Light Fury’. While they are taken by each other, Light Fury senses the presence of Hiccup nearby and flees. Hiccup and Tuffnut later discover the traps Grimmel set in that area to capture Toothless. While Grimmel visits Hiccup that night to reveal that he has killed all the other Nigh Furies, Hiccup sets an ambush to capture the dragon hunter. However, Grimmel escapes burning a part of Berk and Hiccup’s home in the process. This prompts Hiccup to rally the people of Berk to find the Hidden World, as a safe haven from the dragon hunters.

Thus begins the adventure that makes up most of the movie. Toothless is given an automatic tail by Hiccup, so he can go and meet Light Fury, and the two fly off to some unknown land. While Valka (voiced by Cate Blanchett) is on a scouting patrol, she notices Grimmell’s army. In the subsequent tangling, Ruffnut (voiced by Kristen Wiig) gets captured, but Grimmel lets her go, knowing she will lead him to the remaining Berkians. Meanwhile Hiccup and Astrid spot Toothless and Light Fury flying off to the Hidden World as a couple, but when they try to follow, other dragons discover and threaten them. Obviously, Toothless returns to save his friends and Light Fury follows. This allows them to be captured by Grimmel.

Things turn bleak for some time, but Hiccup is not one to let go, and we see a daring rescue mission, with Light Fury and Grimmel getting involved as well. This is where most of the movie’s action sequences come in, and it seems as though Toothless and Hiccup might both fall into the ocean and die, but Light Fury saves them. Grimmel, however, plummets to his death during this action sequence. All this leads Hiccup to realize that the dragons will never be safe in the human world, and all Berkians free their dragons. Teary farewells are said, and Toothless acts as the alpha, bringing all dragons under his control for the last time, as he and Light Fury lead them to the Hidden World. The movie then jumps to three months later as we witness Hiccup and Astrid get married.

The main story ends ten years later, as we see Hiccup and Astrid have had children. They sail to the edge of the Hidden World and meet Toothless, Light Fury and their offsprings. The movie ends with a promise from Hiccup that the Berkians will keep the knowledge of the Hidden World a secret till the world is a better place for coexistence and dragons can live alongside humans.
