Nasty Cherry is a glam-punk girls’ band that was put together by pop icon Charli XCX. Chronicling the genesis of this band is the Netflix reality series, ‘I’m With the Band: Nasty Cherry’. The music-themed documentary narrates how Charli conceived the idea of forming an all-girl gang and how she finally ended up creating this group after hand-picking her choicest, most talented artists.

The first season of the show was well-appreciated by music lovers. Now, the question arises: will there be a ‘I’m With the Band: Nasty Cherry’ season 2? We will delve into that question, but first let’s quickly look into the details of the series.

I’m With the Band: Nasty Cherry Cast: Who is in it

Singer and songwriter Charlotte Emma Aitchison AKA Charli XCX began her career by first posting musical numbers on MySpace in 2008. She was then invited to perform in warehouse raves and parties, after which she signed her first recording contract with Asylum Records. By 2011, she had already released a series of singles and mixtapes. She came to the limelight with the launch of Icona Pop collaboration ‘I Love It’, followed by her debut studio album, ‘True Romance’. Her other famous singles include ‘Break the Rules’, ‘Boom Clap’ and ‘Doing It’. Charli has also served as a co-writer for other artists including Iggy Azalea, Blondie, Selena Gomez, and Shawn Mendes.

An already established popstar, Charli always had a dream of forming her own girl band. Finally, she came up with the concept of Nasty Cherry, which consists of four other musicians, Gabbriette Bechtel, Chloe Chaidez, Georgia Somary and Debbie Knox-Hewson. In the documentary, we follow each of these artists as they go about their day-to-day lives — arrive at their studio, rehearse during jam sessions, and support one another when they are down. According to Charli XCX, the crew is “unashamedly real and also badass.”

Nasty Cherry, since its launch in 2018, has released a few singles over the last couple of months. They have also graced shows in New York that have boasted of sold-out responses. Their EP releases in November 2019. The band had their first gig at NME’s Girls To The Front night in London.

I’m With the Band: Nasty Cherry Plot: What is it about?

‘I’m With The Band: Nasty Cherry’ documents the genesis of the band Nasty Cherry and narrates its journey, starting from their first meeting to deciding to move in together. The series further chronicles their first performance and debut single release while noting all the events that take place in between. Lending a comprehensive look into how it feels and the amount of struggles it takes to realize one’s dreams, ‘I’m With the Band’ follows the featured women band members as they navigate life while adapting to the highly competitive, new age of music. In this quest, they create and follow their own rules while “blowing up Instagram feeds in the process.”

Across the episodes, we meet drummer Debbie Knox-Hewson, bassist Georgia Somary, guitarist Chloe Chaidez, and vocalist Gabbriette Bechtel after they move in and settle in a house in Los Angeles together. They do so in order to prepare for the release of their debut single ‘Win’, which also credits Charli XCX as the co-writer. Now, the girls need to work their a***s off while drinking champagne in the jacuzzi and jamming non-stop so as to record their first single and film the music video.

After all, making it big in the entertainment industry is not a simple endeavor. In short, ‘I’m With the Band’ leads viewers into the world of upcoming stars and explores the nitty-gritty of what it takes to transform ones ambitions into reality. And to top it all, it has been a long time since we got to see a real, all-girl, pop band. Hence, we are really thrilled to know how great this bad-ass girl gang turned out to be.

I’m With the Band: Nasty Cherry Season 2 Release Date: When will it premiere?

‘I’m With the Band: Nasty Cherry’ season 1 premiered on November 15, 2019 on Netflix. The first season consisted of a total of six episodes and was especially loved by fans of Nasty Cherry’s music.

As far as the next season goes, we don’t have an official announcement yet. Though there are quite a few similar reality shows that have seen tremendous success. Granted, this is not as widely likable as a Kardashian show or one of the Housewives series of shows, but still there is quite a wide audience who love music and reality mixed together. So, we believe that the show will come back next year and track the progress of Nasty Cherry. If things go as expected, ‘I’m With the Band: Nasty Cherry’ season 2 can release sometime in November 2020.
