‘Jack Whitehall: Travels With My Father’ is a travel comedy tv show that airs on Netflix and first premiered on September 22, 2017. The show has been created by the comedian Jack Whitehall of ‘Fresh Meat’ and ‘Bad Education’ fame. He along with his father, Michael Whitehall, present the show.

The series is centered on the father-son duo, who travel to various parts of the world. Their trip of a lifetime is peppered with misadventures, escapades, and two very different perspectives to a situation. If you like traveling, then you must know that not everyone can be ideal travel companions. It is especially hard to travel with parents because of the generational gap, which makes them want to enjoy and experience places in a different way than you do. If you have ever found yourself in this pickle, then you will relate to what Jack goes through with his father.

There are several travel shows that have become famous over the years, but that is mostly because they show different cultures and have a hint of exploration and adventure to them. Some notable shows that spring to mind are ‘Madventures’ and ‘Unplanned America’. However, this series not only encapsulates all that but adds a layer of comedy to it as well, which makes it unmissable.

Jack Whitehall: Travels With My Father Cast: Who is in it?

The unique set up only requires the two people in its title — Jack Whitehall and his father, Michael — to be filmed in front of the camera. The two-man show, if you will, has entertained audiences beyond the word. This is because they made the exploits so relatable with their comedy as to make the audiences feel like they were living them as well. As the show’s requirements go, it will remain a two-man show in the upcoming season as well.

Notably, Jack has recently appeared in the acclaimed Amazon Prime show, ‘Good Omens‘ in the role of Newton Pulsifer, a geek hailing from a long line of witch-hunters. Michael, for his part, is a talent agent among other things and has represented the likes of Colin Firth and Dame Judi Dench. Both Jack and his father, Michael, returned for season 3.

If the show continues, expect Jack and his father to return again.

Jack Whitehall: Travels With My Father Plot: What is it about?

‘Jack Whitehall: Travels With My Father’, as the name suggests, involves a father-son duo exploring the world together. The hilarious clash between the two generations is what keeps the show going. Their ideas of travel are vastly different, for example when Jack books a hostel to stay at, in Thailand, only to have his father insist on putting up at a five-star hotel. Their trip in Europe makes this divide even more evident, as Michael arranges for them to visit cultural icons, while Jack gets in activities like going to an unusual cemetery in Romania, or beer biking in Budapest, and skiing with motorbikes in Germany. Of course, his father hates all of this, but there is something to be said for taking his son’s plans in good stride even at his age.

The two are always up for a laugh even amidst their crazier plans, which makes the show so endearing, since it not only focuses on the places they visit but on the central relationship that is so important. While it is true that a lot of the jokes do come at the expense of the tour guide, there is something that can definitely be learned from the trips they take as well. Viewers just have to learn to look beyond all the antics to find that the show is educational in some ways because it covers a lot of ground.

Speaking of the show, overall, it keeps a light tone and is generally fun. There are plenty of wacky moments which viewers might enjoy to the extent of watching all the episodes in one go. I know I did! If you enjoyed ‘Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee‘, which has Jerry Seinfeld meeting some of the most renowned comedians like Ricky Gervais, then you are bound to love this show since both the Whitehalls are comedic gold.

Get ready for more adventure and laughs as the father-son due travel to several new and exciting places in season 4 as well.
