‘Jessica Jones’ Gets Final Season Premiere Date & First Teaser

Netflix announced the premiere date and first teaser for the upcoming third and final season of the Marvel series ‘Jessica Jones.’ The 13 episodes of ‘Jessica Jones’ season 3 will hit Netflix on June 14, 2019. The streaming giant has also revealed some first look images of the last Marvel show in its roster. The final season of the show marks the end of the Marvel era on Netflix. The streamer began cancelling the Marvel TV original series one-after-another starting from ‘Iron Fist‘ last year.

The first look images and teaser of ‘Jessica Jones’ hint that someone is coming for Jessica in the final season. According to an official description released by Netflix, Jessica (played by Krysten Ritter) crosses paths with a cunning psychopath in the new season. She has to patch up with Trish (played by Rachael Taylor) in order to pin the dangerous man down with her help. But an unexpected event sets Jessica and Trish on the opposite sides, reports The Wrap.

Marvel Entertainment has also posted season 3 teaser on Twitter on Tuesday along with the cryptic description, “Sometimes not even ‘heroes’ can save themselves.”

The plot revolves around Jessica, a private investigator with superhuman powers. Along with her best friend, adoptive sister and partner in investigations, Trish and the cunning attorney Jeri Hogarth, Jessica hunts down the most dangerous criminal masterminds.

Apart from Ritter and Taylor, the third season also features Carrie-Anne Moss, who is known for ‘The Matrix‘ Trilogy, Eka Darville of ‘Empire,’ Benjamin Walker of ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’ fame, Jeremy Bobb, known for ‘Russian Doll,’ Sarita Choudhury, Tiffany Mack, Jessica Frances Dukes, Aneesh Sheth of ‘New Amsterdam,’ and Rebecca DeMornay.

In February, Netflix announced the termination of ‘Jessica Jones’ with its third season. Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg had already revealed her decision to leave the series after season 3 finale before Netflix’s shocking announcement. The two seasons of the series garnered critical acclaim and popularity as one of the best Marvel-Netflix shows in recent times.

Last year, Netflix axed its other three Marvel TV series, ‘Daredevil,’ ‘Iron Fist’ and ‘Luke Cage.’ Even though the cancellation of ‘Iron Fist’ triggered little surprise, the decision to put an end to the popular ‘Daredevil’ series was a blow to the fans. Netflix turned a deaf ear to the strong demand for a third season of ‘Daredevil.’

Moreover, Disney’s upcoming streaming service Disney+ will start rolling from this fall. Prior to the launch, Disney announced it will not renew the license to Netflix for its library titles like ‘Avengers: Infinity War‘ and ‘Mulan‘ among others. Netflix doesn’t own any Marvel TV titles. So, the streaming platform focuses more on making its own universe of original content including ‘Stranger Things‘ and ‘Mindhunter‘ to rival Disney+.
