How did John Madden earn his money and wealth?

John Madden was born on April 10, 1936, in Austin Minnesota. He is a former coach for the NFL and broadcaster. (2006–2009). Madden started his career by playing college football for  Grays Harbor College, Washington, College of San Mateo before finally graduating from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. He was by drafted by the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles in 1958 in the 21st round. But a knee injury in training camp prevented his football career from being started. As of 2018, John Madden’s net worth is $6 million.

Madden started his coaching career as an assistant coach at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria in 1960 but was appointed as the head coach in 1962. After 1963 he left to become the defensive assistant coach at San Diego State. Following his success as a college football coach, he was hired as linebackers coach for the AFL’s Oakland Raiders in 1967. With his help, the team reached Super Bowl II that season. Madden was named the Raiders’ head coach on February 4, 1969, which made him professional football’s youngest head coach ever at the age of 32 at the time.

After losing five out of seven AFC Title games, in 1977, the Raiders finally won their first Super Bowl with a convincing 32–14 by defeating Minnesota Vikings. He retired from football as Super Bowl-winning head coach at the very young age of only 42 years. He is still the coach with the most wins in Raiders history.

He started his career as an NFL commentator/analyst in 1979 and lasted till 2008, during which he worked for all four major American television networks. In 1981 he became CBS Sports’ top football broadcasting duo with Pat Summerall. He transferred to Fox Sports in 1994, where he worked till 2002. After becoming a commentator on ABC Sports, he made US$5 million per year. After transferring to NBC Sports, Madden became the first sports caster to have worked for all of the “Big Four”   U.S. broadcast television networks. He finally took retirement from broadcasting in 2009.

After taking a break from all things football, Madden returned in 2017 to his morning on-air chat on San Francisco’s KCBS AM radio. Madden also made appearances in movies, which include “Christine”, “Little Giants”, “The Replacements” and “When the Game Stands Tall”. He also appeared in several television and radio commercials. He is also the voice behind the Super Bowl-winning coach and broadcaster in the video game “Madden NFL”.
