John Mayer aka John Clayton Mayer is a singer as well as songwriter and producer. He was born on October 16, 1977, at Bridgeport, Connecticut. He learned to play the guitar after his father rented one for him. He was part of the band “Villanova Junction” while he was still studying in school. Although he enrolled to study music at Berklee College of Music, he quit and chose to pursue his musical career.

Mayer along with his college friend Clay Cook quit college and started “LoFi Masters” band but they split after having differences in their musical tastes. Mayer released his debut album “Room for Squares” (2001) as an internet-only album. It included the hit singles “Your Body is a Wonderland”, “No Such Thing” and “Why Georgia” which propelled his popularity. He won a Grammy for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance in 2003. Following his debut album, Mayer released a live CD and DVD titled “Any Given Thursday” (2003). His second album “Heavier Things” (2003) included the hit single “Daughters” which eventually won a Grammy for Song of the Year in 2005. “Continuum” (2006) was his third studio album for which he won Best Pop Album and Best Pop Song with Vocal for the single “Waiting on the World to Change”. His fourth studio album was released in 209 and was titled “Battle Studies”. It included hit singles like “Who Says”, “Heartbreak Warfare” and “Half of My Heart”. His next album “Paradise Valley” was released in 2013. His latest album “The Search for Everything” was released 2017 and his latest single “New Light” was released in 2018.

Mayer has graced the cover of Rolling Stone magazine along with Derek Trucks and John Frusciante in February 2007.

Mayer has been nominated for many awards and recognition. He has been nominated for the Grammy Awards a record 19 times out of which he has won it seven times. He won Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for “Your Body is a Wonderland” in 2003, Song of the Year and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for “Daughters” in 2005, Best Pop Vocal Album for “Continuum” in 2007, Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for “Waiting on the World to Change” in 2007 as well, Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for “Say” in 2009, Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance for “Gravity” in 2009 as well.

Mayer has never married but has been linked with stars such as Jennifer Aniston, Katy Perry, and Jessica Simpsons.
