Joanna Noelle Levesque was born in Brattleboro, Vermont (the United States) on 20th December 1990. Joanna Noelle Levesque is professionally known as JoJo, and is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. JoJo was raised in Keene, New Hampshire and Foxborough, Massachusetts. She started singing when she was two years old and used to listen to her mother practicing hymns, by imitating everything from nursery rhymes to R&B, Jazz, and Soul tunes. Her father, Joel Maurice Levesque sang as a hobby and her mother, Diana Levesque sang in Catholic church choir. She grew up in a low-income family. As a child, she performed in various singing competition and actively participated in America’s most opulent Television show known as “America’s Got Talented Kids”. In 2003. she was noticed by record producer Vincent Herbert and asked her to audition for Blackground Records.

In the year 2001, Joanna Levesque recorded a live demo that covers the features of soul and R&B songs. When she was six years old, she was offered a record deal but her mother turned it down, as she very young to start her musical career. At the age of 12 in 2003, JoJo began working with the producers for her first album and signed with Blackground Records and Da Family. At the age of thirteen, she was nominated for the Best New Artist, which made JoJo the youngest MTV Video Music Award nominee. Her first album, “The Platinum-selling JoJo”, was released in 2004 for which she was nominated for Female New Artist of the year and it was also among Top 40 singles of the year at the Billboard Music Awards.

In 2005, The final single from the album,” Not That Kinda Girl” was released and she participated in “Come Together Now”, a charity single to benefit the victims of the Asian tsunami and Hurricane Katrina. JoJo hosted and performed at the Hope Rocks Concert to benefit the City of Hope National Medical Center. She was offered a role as Zoe Stewart on the Disney Channel television series Hannah Montana, which she turned down the role due to lack of interest in doing a television show as she was more concerned with being a legitimate artist. In 2006, JoJo was cast opposite to Emma Roberts and Sara Paxton in the film Aquamarine playing Hailey, which opened on March 3, 2006. Her second album “The High Road” experienced less success which was released on 17th October, 2006. JoJo’s third album was brought up to a big success and was certified gold by the RIAA in December 2006.

In the year 2008, JoJo stated that she would be writing and producing songs for her upcoming album in Atlanta. On June 3, 2009, JoJo started her own official YouTube channel and posted her own version of the song “Can’t Believe It”. In the year 2009, JoJo appeared on Timbaland’s Shock Value as featuring artist and later she appeared on “Timothy Where You Been” with the Australian band. JoJo traveled to Toronto, to act in a film sharing a small screen adaption of Lola Douglas’ True Confessions of a Hollywood Starlet and played the role of Morgan Carter. In late September 2010, JoJo’s first mixtape “Can’t Take That Away from Me” was released along with the single “In the Dark”. JoJo made her first cameo appearances in music videos along with Keri Hilson and was cast in the episode of CBS’s Hawaii Five-0 as Courtney Russell in January 2011.

On August 29, 2011, “Disaster” was released. The song saw a same style as that in her previous hits which was praised by the critics. In October 2012, JoJo was cast as Soledad Braunstein who was the President of Gay-Straight Alliance and began working on the film G.B.F, which was shot in Los Angeles over 18 days. In June 2016, Fifth Harmony announced that JoJo would be one of the opening acts in their The 7/27 Tour which was the second major concert tour by American Girl Group. On August 2017, JoJo made an official announcement of her departure from Atlantic, in addition to her new music venture and Clover music.
