Jonah Hill Feldstein is an American actor, director, comedian, producer, and screenwriter. Born on December 20, 1983, this 35-year-old began to write his own plays from college and soon gathered a fan following. Among the people who enjoyed his creativity were the children of Dustin Hoffman, Rebecca, and Jake. They introduced Hill to the veteran actor who asked him to audition for ‘I Heart Huckabees’. This became Hill’s film debut. He also had minor roles in films like ‘The 40-Year-Old Virgin’ and ‘Grandma’s Boy’.
However, Hill’s first leading role came in the comedy movie ‘Superbad’ where he starred alongside Michael Cera. This film launched Hill’s career, and he went on to act in several notable films like ‘Get Him to the Greek’, ’21 Jump Street’ where he also contributed as a screenwriter, ’22 Jump Street’, ‘Moneyball‘, ‘War Dogs’, ‘Django Unchained‘ and ‘The Wolf of Wall Street‘. Notably, for ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’, which earned him an Oscar nomination for best supporting actor, Hill charged the minimum SAG wage of $60,000. He later said in an interview that this was because he “would have done anything in the world” to be part of a movie directed by Martin Scorsese. He also appeared in notable films like the Coen brothers directed ‘Hail, Caesar!’ and the Gus Van Sant movie ‘Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot’. Hill also appeared in the notable Netflix show ‘Maniac’.
Jonah Hill is one of the few actors in Hollywood who can be classified into the category of Jack of all traits. He’s not only a versatile actor, but also a comedian, a producer, a screenwriter and a soon to-be director. Of many of his striking features, I think it’s his dedication and willingness to get out of the comfort zone that earned him a spot on Forbes magazine. 1. The Beach Bum (2019)
‘The Beach Bum’ is an American comedy film that will release in theaters on March 29, 2019. The movie is the latest presentation of trash culture by Harmony Korine, who can only be described as a provocateur of said culture. The story follows a resident poet laureate and stoner Moondog, played by Matthew McConaughey, who gathers quite a following around the Florida Keys. He has a millionaire wife, Minnie, played by Isla Fisher, who enjoys the Bohemian lifestyle. She, in turn, takes Snoop Dogg’s character for a lover. As it must be pretty evident by now, anything goes in this movie, and that is personified by the laidback character of Moondog himself. The character of Moondog also seems like an extension of McConaughey’s own persona, someone who is easygoing and tunes out most of the world, to carve out a niche and following for himself. Obviously, the role will not feel much like work for McConaughey and we expect a natural performance from him. While McConaughey has the potential to bring a degree of commitment and fineness to any role, the premise of the film sounds like another stoner movie with the cliches that accompany the culture. Amidst all this, Jonah Hill stars as a literary agent and it is unsurprising to expect that Hill will deliver a fantastic performance. To jog your memory about his career, Hill has done his share of stoner comedies and ‘The Beach Bum’ should be a movie that he is more than prepared to handle.
2. The Ballad of Richard Jewell (TBA)
