‘Jumanji: The Next Level‘ takes the story forward from the successful 2017 reboot titled ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’. Although it continues the adventures in the world of Jumanji, the premise of the movie is strikingly similar. The kids once again enter the game to save their friend Spencer, but this time, Spencer’s grandfather and his old friend are sucked in as well. The old people have to be taught the game as the players face more danger than ever before.
Normally, a similar plot usually means that a sequel has fizzled out and does not warrant another film. However, considering the box office success of ‘Jumanji: The Next Level’, it is hard not to see another film being made. The film has made double of what its predecessor did in the opening weekend, by raking in around $60 million. Moreover, the movie ends with a mid-credits scene that wonderfully sets up the possibility of the a new Jumanji movie. With that in mind, we bring you everything we know about ‘Jumanji 4’.
Jumanji 4 Plot: What Can It Be About?
First off, the next ‘Jumanji’ movie is going to ‘Jumanji 4’ and not ‘Jumanji 3’ because you have to take the 1995 movie, starring Robin Williams, as part of the franchise. As for the plot of the next movie, we are certain that it will tie in with the 1995 film.
Up until this point, we saw that players went to the world of Jumanji and faced adventures. However, Jumanji 4, like the 1995 film, will see the world of Jumanji invading our world, which is bound to lead to a lot of adventures, not to mention, pressing danger.
This has already been hinted at, by the end of ‘Jumanji: The Next Level’, when a repairman goes into Spencer’s basement and touches the game. The scene cuts to a herd of ostriches racing across a snowy landscape in front of the diner where the Jumanji players are unwinding after their latest adventure. It seems that their decision to never enter the world of Jumanji has been turned on its head since Jumanji has entered their world. Unlike the game, where each player had multiple lives, it is unlikely that the people in the real world will have this luxury. Therefore, the stakes will be infinitely higher in the next Jumanji movie.
Moreover, if the film does follow the pattern of the 1995 movie, then the children will have to beat the game in order to reverse everything that happens in their world from the time Jumanji invades it.
Jumanji 4 Cast: Who Can Be In It?
In the likely event of ‘Jumanji 4’ being made, we can be sure that Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, and Jack Black will be back. After all, the four have delivered solid performances, and it is their star power that draws a lot of viewers. Moreover, Jake Kasdan stated at one point that he could not imagine making another movie without the presence of actors like Johnson.
Apart from them, we should also be seeing Alex Wolff, Madison Iseman, Ser’Darius Blain, and Morgan Turner, since they appear as the players who will now have to deal with Jumanji entering their world. Nick Jonas and Awkwafina might be back as well. There is a good chance we will also be seeing Lamorne Morris and Bebe Neuwirth. The former plays the repairman, who fiddles with the game, bringing Jumanji to the real world, while the latter plays the role of Nora, which she first appeared in, during the 1995 movie.
Both Hart and Johnson have teased that new stars could be on board for the next movie, and some big names have been thrown around, but we have to wait and see if that actually pans out.
Jumanji 4 Crew: Who Can Be Behind It?
Since both the 2017 film and the 2019 follow-up have been directed by Jake Kasdan, it is likely that the director will be helming the next movie as well. Gyula Pados has been behind the camera for both movies and is likely to return as the cinematographer. Sony Pictures Releasing knows it has a golden goose on its hands as far as the franchise is concerned, and will be distributing ‘Jumanji 4’ as well. It remains to be seen if the same scriptwriters are attached to the upcoming project, or if new talents are sought out to ensure that new life is breathed into the story of ‘Jumanji 4’.
Jumanji 4 Release Date: When Will It Premiere?
‘Jumanji: The Next Level’ released in December 2019, which is exactly 2 years after the release of the 2017 reboot. Going by this pattern, it is most likely that we will be seeing the next ‘Jumanji’ film in two years. Thus, ‘Jumanji 4’ is likely to be released in December 2021, but we do have to wait for it to be officially greenlit.
