The two soon start talking an Nanami narrates her life story to the man, whose name is Mikage. Upon learning about Nanami’s position, Mikage decides to return the favour and grants Nanami his home as a token of gratitude for saving him from the dog. Despite being reluctant, Nanami agrees to stay at his place since she is homeless.

However, when Nanami arrives at the man’s home, she is shocked to find that it is actually a shrine. At the shrine, Nanami meets Onikiri and Kotetsu, who are the keepers of the shrine, and gets to learn about its history. She then goes on to meet Tomoe, who is Mikage’s familiar, and learns that Mikage was actually the Earth deity of the shrine and transferred his powers and responsibilities to Nanami when she saved him from the dog in the park.
