 13. Shaun the Sheep Movie (2015)

This is a funny movie for kids to watch. The beauty of this movie is that in the entire 84-minute lengths there is no dialogue although this might not be surprising for people who watch the animated show on Nickelodeon. The movie is focused on a group of sheep who are tired of their daily mundane activities and are looking to get some fun. One day they decide to lock their master and have fun but unfortunately, everything goes wrong. Their master ends up in the city and his memory is gone. Now, it is up to Shaun and his gang of sheep to find their master and bring him back to the farm. I really enjoyed this movie. Even though there are no dialogues in the movie you will never feel bored or confused.

12. Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001)

I remember watching this movie when I was a kid. It was really fun and opened my mind to the world of imagination. I loved every bit of it, especially the visuals. The main protagonist of the story is Milo who is the grandson of the famous Thaddeus Thatch. He works in a boiler room of a museum. But there is one thing that Milo knows that many people don’t. 10. Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988)

This was really an interesting way of executing a movie. It was really exciting to see animated characters interact with live human beings. When I first watched it I was quite young and enjoyed it a lot. I guess it is another one of those movies which let the imagination of kids run wild. Anyway, the plot is focused on Roger rabbit who is married to one of the most beautiful and voluptuous animated characters, Jessica Rabbit (one reason to watch the film as an adult). Well, if you a wife that beautiful you will always be suspicious of her and that’s what happens. Roger thinks that Jessica might be having some kind of ‘thing’ with someone else. He hires a private detective to find out the truth. But then trouble brews up as a man named Marvin Acme is found dead and Roger is the main subject.

9. The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996)

This is a beautiful story. I remember watching it once on Pogo I guess. It kinda makes me feel nostalgic. I had actually read the story much before I watched the film and it was great to see a visual form of the story. The plot of ‘The Hunchback of Notre Dame’ is centered around Quasimodo who was abandoned by his parents when he was still a baby and was thrown into a well. Thankfully few priests of Notre Dame were able to save him. Quasimodo was since his birth, hence the title has ‘Hunchback’ in it. Quasimodo started working as a bell-ringer at the Cathedral to earn his living. He becomes the ward of Judge Frollo the main antagonist of the story. As the plot progress Quasimodo and Frollo along with a soldier named Phoebus fall in love with a Gypsy woman named Esmeralda and when she refuses Frollo’s advances he gets angry and wants to remove the entire Gypsy community from Paris. Quasimodo, Esmeralda, and Phoebus need to save them but will the succeed?

8. The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water (2015)

I enjoyed watching this movie a lot. Though I watched it a year ago I still enjoyed watching animated characters interacting with live human beings. It kinda reminded me of ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’. The story is fun and entertaining. Krusty Krab and Plankton had a fight and it was found that the secret formula of Krabby Patty has disappeared. Due to this everyone in Bikini Bottom goes crazy and the place dives into havoc. Houses are burned and people start rioting. They start believing that Plankton and Spongebob have teamed up to steal the formula. They are now being hunted by the entire town. Plankton builds a time machine and along with Spongebob goes to a time when the formula was present. But after the retrieving the formula they discover that it is fake. Who took it then? Is that the aroma of Krabby patty that everyone smells.

7. Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey (1993)

I love animals. They are fun and cuddly. Well, I know I am never going to cuddle with any wild animals like a lion or a polar bear but dogs and cats are fun. This is one reason I have watched many pet-related movies even if I knew they had got really bad ratings. It was fun watching this movie too not that it had gotten a bad rating or anything. The plot follows three pet animals two dogs and a cat. Chance is a young dog, Shadow is an old, wise dog and Sassy is a cat who feels that it is upper class. Once their family went on vacation. The pets had no clue where they went or why. So, they panic and decide to search for their family. The journey is fun and is a great watch for kids. Hell, even adults who love pets will enjoy it.

6. The Ant Bully (2006)

Man, many of the films that I have picked up for this list, I have watched as a kid. I remember watching ‘The Ant Bully’. One of the main reasons that I enjoyed watching this film was that I always wondered how ants lived in their colonies and if I became small what would happen. But mind you, I don’t mean to say that whatever is shown in the film is scientifically correct. It is just for fun. The plot focuses on Lucas Nickle, who is always bullied by the kids of his neighborhood. Unable to tell his family who are much busy with their own lives he takes his anger out on ants. Kicking the anthill and flooding their colony. The ants struggle to find a solution and they turn to the wizard ant who makes a potion which makes Lucas shrink to the size of ants. Now, he must live with them to survive. Will he learn anything?

5. Air Bud (1997)

Well, up next is another dog movie. Look, I know I am biased on this, so don’t judge me. Also, this list is about movies that kids have fun watching so the ratings don’t matter. When I was a kid I enjoyed this movie (I still kinda do) and I know kids love dogs and when it is a cute and cuddly Golden Retriever playing basketball then it’s like sugar mixed with honey. The plot has two main characters. One is a Golden Retriever named Buddy and another is a boy named Josh. Josh has recently moved into a new town and has trouble making friends since he is shy. So, he plays basketball alone in the court. One day he meets a dog named Buddy who loves Basketball and is good at it. Slowly, the duo bond with each other and when they become famous the mean owner of the dog comes back to cash in on the success. Will Buddy and Josh remain together?

4. Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989)

‘Honey, I Shrunk the Kids’ is another nice movie from those sweet childhood memories. I have only watched this movie once so I don’t know if I will enjoy it now but it was really fun when I watched this. I have mentioned it before in ‘The Ant Bully’ that I used to wonder what if I became really small. Well, this film was much more engaging for that reason. It is a classic kids movie and I am sure most kids will love it. The plot is quite evident from the title. A man shrunk his kids. Why, you ask? Well, he is a scientist who has invented a shrinking device but did he warn his family to stay away from it even though he has kids in his house? Nope. Thus, as a result, the kids accidentally switch it on and voila! They are shrunk. Now, they have to face all the dangers of being small and find a way to get back to their normal sizes.

3. March of the Penguins (2005)

Why am I including a documentary about penguins in this list, you ask? Well, because penguins are fun to look at. They are cuddly and kids love them. Also, you can stream this film on Hulu and check out the other list that I did about documentaries on Hulu (advertising :-)).Anyway, the documentary is a great one. Not just because penguins are quite humorous to look at but also because kids can learn a lot about these amazing creatures. The documentary focuses on Emperor penguins who at the end of Arctic summer march to their traditional breeding grounds. After the eggs are hatched the female penguins leave making sure that the eggs are safe at the hands of their male partners. They go for nourishment and come back with food for her baby. Another reason to watch this is that Morgan Freeman, the God himself, is the narrator.

Disney really knows how to capture a kids attention. Mulan is a really nice animated movie. The animation is kinda unique. The story of ‘Mulan’ is based on old Chinese folklore. 1. The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

I know I have included many animated films in this compilation. The thing is that animated movies can provide kids enjoyment in so many ways that real movie cannot. If they do manage to the cost becomes really high. The animated movies just let kid’s imaginations run wild. ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)‘ is written by Tim Burton. It is a great movie one which kids will love. Though it may not be suitable for kids who are too young as they may get scared watching skeletons and all.  The plot of the speaks about Pumpkin King of Halloween who is bored with doing the same thing every year without any change. Upon stumbling on Christmas Town he is fascinated by it and wants to celebrate it in his own town. He gathers the residents, which include bats, ghoul, and other scary people, and asks them to celebrate Christmas. Things might not go as smoothly as Pumpkin thinks.
