How did Kimbo Slice earn his money and wealth?
Kimbo Slice is an American professional boxer, mixed martial artist, and an actor. He was born on February 8th, 1974 in Nassau, Bahamas. He moved to the United States and grew up in Cutler Ridge, FL. He went to Bel-Air Elementary School, where for the first time, at the age of 13, he was reportedly involved in his first fight while defending his friend. He attended Cutler Ridge Middle School then Richmond Heights Middle School. He pursued his studies also at Miami Palmetto High School, where he was the star middle linebacker. He also attended Bethune-Cookman University and the University of Miami, where he studied criminal justice for a year and a half and held an athletic scholarship.
Coming to his professional career, before starting his martial arts career, he did several jobs. He worked as a bouncer and later was hired as a bodyguard for RK Netmedia. In 2002, he was accused of carrying a concealed weapon. In 2003, he started his career in unsanctioned mutual combat street fights, which got recognized over the internet. Again, in the year 2005, he started his mixed martial arts training at the Freestyle Fighting Academy under the guidance of Marcos Avellan and David Avellan. He was also associated with UFC and played for them. He had a tryout with the Miami Dolphins in 1997 and became a part of the pre-season squad, but he was unable to get a place in the first team. In the year 2010, he started his career as a boxer. Throughout the year 2011, he amazed people by showing his fighting skills in the boxing game and became the part of wrestling as a prominent wrestler.
His mutual combat street fights went viral on the Internet and this lead Rolling Stone to call him as ‘The King of the Web Brawlers’. He signed a contract with EliteXC 2007 and left the underground fighting scene to become a professional. He competed in The Ultimate Heavyweights but got defeated in his first fight to the series winner, Roy Nelson. His debut in the UFC, in The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights finale made him win over Houston Alexander.
Since then, he gained popularity as a professional boxer. He was also about to have his first match in Pro Wrestling in early 2011 but unfortunately had to pull out due to his injury during the practice. From January 2015 until his death in June 2016, he was under contract with Bellator MMA.
