Knight Fight is possibly the wildest and one of the most brutal armoured combat competitions to grace television since the full-contact Armored Combat League called Knight Fight Club. Warriors are seen participating in full-contact combats to win a cash prize of $10,000 and earn the championship title. The show is produced for the History Chanel by Matador Content. Vincent Cariati serves as the showrunner and executive producer of the show along with a few others. The series premiered on January 23, 2019, on History Channel and A+E Networks holds the rights to distribute it internationally.

Knight Fight Cast: Who’s in it?

The exceptional John Clements and Andre Sinou serve as the judges on the show while Jay Reso hosts it. John Clements is a prominent figure in historical fencing and is known to be a leading practitioner and instructor of fighting techniques that were popular during the Medieval times and Renaissance. He has led studies on fencing and has been avidly practising the art for over 35 years now. He is also one of the most celebrated writers of the subject. Andre Sinou, on the other hand, flaunts his deft skills as a swordsman. He is known to have founded the Armored Combat League, USA Knights and is among those few who deeply value and propagate medieval combat. Our host Reso is most popularly known for his career in professional wrestling. The Canadian actor shot to great heights of fame while he was part of WWE as Christian and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling as Christian Cage.

Knight Fight Plot: What is it about?

Knight Fight is extremely violent and unbelievably wild. The armoured combat competition is not for the faint-hearted. Anyone who shares a passion for this medieval art is bound to be mesmerized by what the series has in store for them. It takes you deep into the bloody world of full contact combat where modern-day warriors battle it out, showing no ounce of mercy to one another, whilst using authentic steel weapons that have medieval history ingrained in them. Their armour alone weighs over 80 pounds.

We have six contestants on Knight Fight, each of whom has his eyes on the cash prize of $10,000 and a spot in the season finale to become the first ever “Knight Fight” champion. These great armoured combat warriors first come together in a face off in a Grand Melee that results in the elimination of one contestant. The remaining warriors go on to fight as teams of three in their first-ever Three Team Melee, which leaves us with four finalists. These final four enter a two-on-two Team Melee then. This brings us to the final Duel which has three Heats.

The finale which features the ultimate duel is extremely exciting. The two remaining contestants are armed with the same weapon and asked to design a “super armour” which they must do by using pieces from their original armour and incorporating elements they used in the team battles held previously. They fight can commence only after this step has been accomplished. The weapons used in this round include the fearsome Flamberge, two-handed War Mace, and the double-headed Battle Axe which if branded right earn the winner the Knight Fight Tournament Champion’s Golden Helm.

The show is a shout out to the celebrated warriors of the medieval period and their days of glory. The pain, injuries and violence are all as real as it can get. It is truly one of the most intense fight-shows one can watch on TV today. While explaining the format of the show the host, Jay Reso said, “The competition starts with the Grand Melee with the six competitors fighting at the same time. We then whittle it down to four, split them apart and put them in a Team Melee. The winning team gets separated, and we put them into a duel with the winner winning the show.”

The show is a revamp of the medieval tradition and does exceedingly well modernizing it. The team battles and thrilling duels have helped the show garner quite a fan following among the audiences. The series also introduces both, entry-level warriors and highly skilled armoured athletes belonging to various ages and backgrounds. It throws light on the number of people who take this on as a second profession, willingly on their toes to give in to a bold, merciless and physically draining tournament.
