Kyokou Suiri Episode 3 Recap

The third episode of ‘Kyokou Suiri’ picks up where the previous episode left and initially revolves around the discussion between Kotoko and the giant Serpent in the mountains. Just like the previous episode, the Serpent keeps asking her all kinds of questions surrounding the recent murder case where a woman dumped a dead body in the Serpent’s lake. Instead of getting mad at him, Kotoko patiently answers all of his questions. She explains it to him that the woman had prayed for the police to find the dead body because she was hoping that they would discover something else along with that. Everything then starts making sense to the Serpent and Kotoko and Kuro head back home.

In the meantime, a man, while driving, discovers the Yokai of a dead idol right in the middle of the road. The rumors about the idol then go viral and everyone starts calling her “Steel Lady Nanase.”  Saki, who was Kuro’s ex-girlfriend, works as a cop and as soon as she is told about the incident, it triggers her PTSD. She recalls the incident where she had encountered a Yokai with her boyfriend and instead of attacking them, the Yokai was terrified of Kuro. She then looks back at another incident where Kuro had cut his arm but had instantly healed right after that. While the cop who tells her about it dismisses the whole “Steel Lady” incident as a rumor, she believes in it.

She later heads to the location where Nanase was spotted by most people and that’s when she meets Kotoko. Kotoko asks her to go home but she decides to face her demons by attacking the Yokai. The Yokai yields her massive steel frame to attack, but she somehow manages to dodge it. As soon as she packs a punch in Yokai’s gut, she realizes that the creature is a mere spirit and there’s no way she can hit it. This is when Kotoko steps in to save her and kicks the Yokai with her non-prosthetic leg. And since she is a goddess, she is actually able to hit the Yokai. With this, the Yokai ends up leaving them alone.

In the final moments of the episode, Kotoko reveals it to Saki that she is Kuro’s present girlfriend and ends up getting punched in the face.
