How did the Larry Flynt earn his money and wealth?

Larry Flynt is known all over the world as the flamboyant king of pornography. Although he is known to be the epitome of everything rich and grand, his childhood was far from what it is today.  He was born in Kentucky and grew up in Hamlet, Indiana with his single mother and brother. At the age of 16, he ran away from home and joined the US Army in 1958. He left the Army and did odd end jobs until he enlisted in the US Navy in 1960. He worked as a radar operator in the USS. Following his honorable discharged from the Army in 1964; Larry Flynt married and opened a bar to sell his own moonshine whiskey. He started opening and operating successful bars and strip clubs since 1968 when he opened Hustler Club. As of 2018, Larry Flynt’s net worth is $500 million.

Larry Flynt’s Hustler Clubs were doing very well and by 1971 he opened numerous Hustler Clubs all over Ohio in Cincinnati, Columbus, Dayton, Akron, Toledo, and Cleveland. His income from the Hustler Clubs fetched him an annual income of $ 75,000 to $100,000 each. Larry Flynt started the Hustler newsletter in 1972 with the intention of expanding his booming business.

He started the Hustler magazine in July 1974 and was a great hit because of its explicit pornographic content on women. The magazine went bankrupt in 1975 but regained popularity after it published candid nude photographs of Jacky Kennedy Onassistaken while she was holidaying in 1971.

Larry Flynt became the publisher and the president of Larry Flynt Publications. His lifestyle and moral beliefs earned him as many admirers as critics. Many of his detractors were organizations, individuals, and women who found the content of his Hustler magazine shockingly degrading and offensive to women.

In the year 2000, Larry Flynt opened the Hustler Casino in Gardena, Los Angeles to run as a card room. He also started another pornographic magazine called Barely Legal which showcased young women who had just turned 18.
