Legends of Tomorrow Season 5: Premiere Date, Cast, Trailer, Spoilers & News

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is an American superhero television series which was developed by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg and Phil Klemmer, who are also the executive producers along with Sarah Schechter and Chris Fedak; Klemmer and Fedak serve as showrunners of the show, which is based on the characters of DC Comics. Legends of Tommorow airs on The CW and is a spin-off from Arrow and The Flash (existing in the same fictional universe). The first season was about Time Master Rip Hunter going rogue after Vandal Savage murders his family and to stop Vandal Savage.

Rip recruits a team consisting of Ray Palmer / Atom, Sara Lance / White Canary, Martin Stein and Jefferson “Jax” Jackson, who combine to form the hero Firestorm, Kendra Saunders / Hawkgirl, Carter Hall / Hawkman, Leonard Snart / Captain Cold, and Mick Rory / Heat Wave. Rip and the team discover that the Time Masters are working alongside  Savage (in his domination of the world in 2166) for a successful repulsion of a Thanagarian invasion. In the final episode, Leonard Snart sacrifices himself to destroy the Time Masters.

In Season 2, Legends are plagued by the Legion of Doom, a time-travelling team led by Reverse Flash (Eobard Thawne). Eobard Thawne recruits Damien Darhk, Malcolm Merlyn, and Leonard Snart to find the Spear of Destiny of Biblical fame to alter their fates. The team is joined by Amaya Jiwe / Vixen, an African superhero from the Justice Society of America and Nate Heywood / Steel, a modern-day historian with the power to become solid metal.

In season 3, the team discover that they created anachronisms through time whilst defeating The Legion of Doom,  Rip  forms a  Time Bureau to help fix the anachronisms and informs the legends of the demon Mallus, whose follower Nora Darhk has resurrected her father Damien, Amaya’s granddaughter Kuasa & Gorilla Grodd so that they can release Mallus from his prison by perverting history. The team is also joined by Zari Tomaz, a hacktivist from 2042 whose air-controlling amulet is connected to Amaya’s totem and Wally West / Kid Flash, a speedster formerly under the tutelage of the Flash. Read on to find out about season 4 and if season 5 is likely.

Legends of Tomorrow Season 4 Cast: Who’s in it?

The original cast (consisting of Ray Palmer / Atom, Sara Lance / White Canary, Mick Rory / Heat Wave, Nick Zano /Commander Steel, Maisie Richardson-Sellers/Vixen, Tala Ashe /isis & Keiynan Lonsdale/Kid Flash) returned for season 4.

According to Den of Geek, Matt Ryan’s John Constantine won’t be an occasional guest star anymore and joined Legends of Tomorrow as a series regular for season 4. Season 3 was an emotional roller coaster which saw the deaths of RIP Hunter and professor, Martin Stien. Arthur Darvill who played RIP sacrificed himself to buy the legends some time from the impending attacks of The season’s big bad Mallus.

Victor Garber (Dr Martin Stien) & Franz Drameh (Jefferson Pierce), both the halves of the Metahuman/superhero Firestorm bid adieu to Legends of Tommorow permanently after season 3 (although Franz could make a return in the future), with Garber going back to Broadway & Franz quitting the show thereafter. The season 3 finale of L.O.T sees Maisie Richardson-Sellers as Amaya Jiwe / Vixen returning back to her village Zambesi in 1942, and hence, was not part of season 4. However, she could return given L.O.T is a show based on time travel.

Unless there are further cancellations in the cast, we will expect above-stated to return for season 5.

Legends of Tomorrow Season 4 Plot: What is it about?

Season 4 off Legends of Tomorrow follows the Legends as they defeat the demon Mallus using a giant stuffed animal named Beebo and cuddling him The Legends are now prepared to cool it off for a while. Ava Sharpe (Jes Macallan) is joined by Sara (Caity Lotz)’s team and the Time Bureau in an attempt to clear the last few anachronisms that remain. Things are looking straightforward for a while but little do they know that they have given way to a larger problem. Constantine (Matt Ryan) informs them of the repercussions of their actions. In their bid to defeat Mallus, the Legends caused the barrier between worlds to soften. A new danger in the form of “Fugitives” – magical creatures from myths, fairy tales, and legends – presents itself. Constantine had been responsible for abandoning the Fugitives and other creatures throughout time, and now that they are back, their aim is to wreak havoc. The Legends must return to restore peace and order in the world.

Sara and Constantine are joined by compassionate inventor Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), hotheaded ex-con Mick Rory (Dominic Purcell), rebellious totem-bearer Zari (Tala Ashe), and heartbroken historian-turned-superhero Nate (Nick Zano) as they set out to save the world – and their legacy. It’s the familiar fun of the Legends time-travelling across historical events and encountering famous figures with an added shot of magical craziness! Based on the characters from DC, DC’S Legends of Tommorow is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Supergirl”), Phil Klemmer (“The Tomorrow People,” “Chuck”) and Sarah Schechter (“Arrow,” “The Flash”).

Legends of Tomorrow Season 5 Release Date: When will it premiere?

The air date of Legends of Tommorow Season 4 was announced to be October 22, 2018, on The CW. Legends were not in the Arrowverse’s crossover this year which casts doubt on the future of the Legends of Tommorrow. “Our show is very, very difficult [to produce]… there are no easy episodes, everything pushes production and post-production and our actors to the absolute brink of exhaustion, and we frankly reached a breaking point, ” showrunner Phil Klemmer explained. If it does come back with season 5, a release date in October 2019 can be expected but not much has been said so far. San Diego Comic-Con in July 2019 might clear things for Legends of Tommorrow. Stay tuned to find out.
