He’s an active environmentalist and has donated a lot to the cause. He formally established Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation in 1998, right after his success in “Titanic”. His role in “Blood Diamond” (2006) was critically acclaimed for raising awareness about the atrocities committed in the industry. In 2007, he had a major role in the documentary “The 11th Hour” about global warming and our role in it. His active interest in the well-being of humans has acted as a catalyst in his rising fame and he holds the record for organizing the highest grossing environmental charity ever, raising almost $40 million.

DiCaprio scored the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Drama thanks to his performances in “The Aviator” (2004) and “The Revenant” (2015). “The Revenant” also brought to him his very first Academy Award for Best Actor, along with a BAFTA Award.
